I've launched a new support group (email list) for owners of SM- affected cavaliers or those with related diagnoses (hydrocephalous, the occipital malformation but clear for SM) -- this will become the primary support board connected with the SM Infosite (noted below) though this board's own SM forum will also be available, of course.
Here's some further information:
To view or join the new list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CKCS-SM-support/
CKCS-SM-support is intended for owners of affected cavaliers who are seeking an open and unrestricted discussion environment to ask questions, share information, and join a community of other affected-dog owners.
This list has been created as a sister list to the CKCS-SM group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CKCS-SM , which has general SM discussion) and is affiliated to the SM Infosite (http://sm.cavaliertalk.com).
Everyone is very welcome to join and to participate, but as the list is supportive in nature, its focus is more specifically directed at the owner of affected dogs than at a general audience interested in learning more about SM. For the latter, CKCS-SM is probably more suitable.
This is not a closed or heavily moderated group, which means your posts are not screened by moderators before they are posted, and the list is open for public viewing. If a topic seems more appropriate to CKCS-SM, moderators might recommend bumping it over there! :^) But the intention is for the list to be open, welcoming, encouraging of discussion, supportive of different perspectives, and especially, supportive to people with affected dogs however they may choose to manage the condition.
