We had her scheduled to get spayed this Friday, but she went into heat over the weekend so I need some advice. I'm sorry, but I have alot of questions........
I have not yet purchased her any doggie diapers. I didn't expect to deal with this once we made the appt. Those of you that have an intact female, do you use the doggy diapers or do you leave your female be "free"? The blood spots so far are very small when she's laying down on the couch or bed.
Also, will the blood start getting heavier as the cycle continues? If not, I can deal with the amount of blood as it is right now.
I thought she was acting funny from getting her rabies shot. However it's been 4 days and she is still not interacting with us too much, seems to prefer her crate except at bedtime. Is she acting this way due to hormones or should I be concerned there is something else wrong? She doesn't seem sick. Just tired and not eating much at all......
I do not have any other dogs, so I DO know to keep my eye on her at all times outside. That is the only thing I feel I know.
The vet made me cancel her spaying and said we can do it 2 weeks after the bleeding has stopped and the area is no longer swollen. It's funny because I mentioned to my husband a couple days before it started how large and hard her nipples were, but he said she's still growing and it makes sense those would grow too. Now I know it was a sign of what was coming.
Sorry for the novel, but I don't know exactly what to do and if her behavior is normal.
Thanks for any advice or answers I can get! :?
