ear odor

belle's ears have a strong unpleasant odor and she scratches her at her ears. my daughter is going to take her to the vet next week. Does this sound like an infection or allergy? Lisa says she's noticed that odor since she got belle last August but says it's become stronger lately. She's been seen by a vet for routine care and nothing has been noted. Her ears look clean, the part that's visible. There's no visible discharge or debris, the ears look normal. but the odor is foul and strong. i can smell it from a few inches away.

It sure sounds like an ear infection. Definately get her to the vet as soon as you can.

Or else it could be ear mites, that always has a bad smell coming from their ears.... it would be a brown goo inside.

Cavaliers have ear canals that slant away at an angle once out of eyesight so the ear could easily look clear but have an infection (probably less likely to have mites if you can't see any brownish goo). It does sound like the typical signs of an ear infection.
