NEW IRISH TRPD GROUP...

Yes I'm SHOUTING but it's 'cos I'm so excited :wggle: :jump:

As many of you probably know, rescues in Ireland struggle considerably to cope in often difficult circumstances and are particularly grateful for donations of items such as greyhound/dog coats, collars etc.

TRPD’s Pet Craft Project try to help, but funding is always stretched to the limits and the extra postal costs don’t help, so they are limited in what they can send over the water.

Well, the opportunity arose to start a new TRPD project group actually based in Ireland and with the sole purpose of making and donating items such as coats, collars, leads etc., to the Irish rescues.

A fundraising drive was started, and amazingly £495.82p was raised in 10 days, the original target was £250...but the fundraising is ongoing...

:drivecar: full of goodies has arrived in Ireland, including a second-hand overlocker sewing machine and enough webbing, collar fittings and fleece to make a huge impact on the lives of a lot of desperately needy greyhounds and other rescued animals.

the aim of the project is that it will be self supporting, so they will make items to sell and all the proceeds will be used to make items for the rescues...like the UK project.

You can read more about the Irish project here:

{I think you may need to be a member to read it though}

This is the UK project's forum

What a wonderful project! I can see how the group could become self supporting as there are lots of people who enjoy doing crafts and sewing, etc.

Our agility trainer, who has a whippet and a greyhound mix, says they absolutely have to wear coats in the cold weather, since they have short hair and no fat! That's great that the group provides coats for the greyhounds. :flwr:
