View Full Version : Where to buy stairs?

I'm worried about Kingston jumping on and off furniture. Where can I get some steps that don't look cheap and ugly? Thanks!

Oh, I'm such a goof tonight! I went and looked you up in the Introduce Yourself forum, then I went into my post where I asked if you're in the US and edited it to post all the links. While I was doing that you answered my question, which is no longer there!
It's past my bedtime! :slp:

Hi! You can get steps at Target - they're for kids, not dogs, but when we got them they were about 1/2 the price of the "doggy" kind! My mom got some for her Papillon, and she just put a little piece of carpet on the top of each step so that Eden would have more traction when she was going up the steps. :)

RockNRollCav, What a good idea, and much less expensive, too!

At PetSuppliesPlus you can buy the little carpet squares. Just cut to fit the steps and glue them on! :)

What a great idea using the kids steps. I was thinking of doing that last night and now you've given me a great link to order at a great price! I'll have to look into the carpet squares. :-)

I love that they have the storage too, so it can double as a place to keep his toys.

I'm fairly certain that if you have an American Automobile Association (AAA) card, you can get a discount on all Target purchases from their website (not in the store). :)

Wow Cathy! :w*w:

Thanks!!! What a great tip about Target.com. I am always searching for coupon codes whenever I shop online and who knew I could always get a discount just because I am a AAA member!

I searched through the AAA website and there are so many discounts I can get that I never knew about.

To get the AAA discount from Target.com, you just need to enter the site to order through this link:

At this rate, you can probably buy the steps for less than it would cost to build them! :w**h**:

This is exactly why I love this forum. Thanks guys! I'm looking into the kiddie stairs.

Where can I get pieces of carpet to put on kiddie stairs? Don't they make carpet that is self-adhesive? I'm not good with this home improvement stuff. :sl*p:

My mom had luckily just had new carpet installed and so she was able to just use a couple of scraps. I bet you can call your local flooring store...they almost always have scraps that they'll sell for next to nothing, or even just give it away.

Wow...that's a GREAT idea!!!

Ask for old samples at the carpet store. We have a couple squares with non-skid backing we use on the cat's feeding station table (our solution for keeping Pixie out of their crunchies - plus it's under a window for them to look out.)

Or just buy a square or 2 of self adhesive carpeting from Home Depot!

I thought the carpet remnants at PetSuppliesPlus looked like nice carpeting for a low price, but I guess it would be difficult to cut it and try to glue it on the steps. :sl*p:

Have you got any carpet shops nearby, I normally go and see if they are getting rid of their square samples....

I bought a "utility" rug at Target at the same time I bought my kiddie steps (pine ones that match my furniture ...).

Depending what color you want, it was not expensive. For some reason the charcoal grey was $3.99 - it is basically the size of a door mat, but would look okay on the steps. I wanted something lighter that would blend with the wood color, so I got a tan one for $5.99.

I still have to find time to cut them up and glue them on though ... :dogwlk:
