I'm trying to figure out what crate to get for Bosley for the house. I don't want anything too large or too small. I've seen the ones that my neighbor's have for their Schnauzers and they look to be about the right size. I also want something that will look semi attractive. :) Thanks!

I bought a Lifestages crate from Petsmart. It has a black finish and actually looks quite nice in my house. The other crates were either too big or too small. This one is perfect! I believe it cost about $65 dollars.

I use these:

I have a couple of different sizes-- small for transporting and medium for longer stays. Nylabone makes a nice crate. Sandy

I have this "wicker look" crate from PetEdge. We use it for an end table, and the "small" size is plenty big for a cav.

I love those wicker ones! Had I seen those back when I first started crating I probably would have gotten one.

Here's the link to the ones I have
http://www.jbpet.com/Shopping/product.asp?catalog_name=JBWholesale&product_id=181-0104&category_name=CratesFolding

I bought crate covers from here
http://www.thepamperedpetmart.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CCWBPD&Category_Code=CC&Product_Count=0

I also cover their pads with a king size pillow case. Makes it really easy to pull off and toss in the wash. Here's a pic of my two in their crates:

They both love their crates and go very happily into them at night time.

We use the Midwest Double Door crates. They're nice and the double door gives you more options on where to put it in a room. We use the 30x21 but the 24x18 works too. We keep another crate pad on top for the cats to sit on, but I've seen people keep decorative pillows or a table top and use as an end table.

We also have a folding one similar to this for when we travel:

I went to www.carealotpets.com and started clicking around at all the crates, and this one has a cav in it! http://www.carealotpets.com/item-detail/?ItemID=1648B

I have the Lifestages double door crates. I bought one of the larger sizes for India when she had knee surgery. And I have softsided, zippered crates for the car.

SHANO, are you planning on getting an x-pen, in addition to a crate? They work well for puppies! :flwr:

Sorry, slightly OT...

Cathy

Shelby looks soooo scrummy with her teddy :l*v:

Shelby is my little love.

Anyway...Shano, do these answers help? One of the reasons I posted the pics is to show you that although Jake is bigger than Shelby he is equally as comfortable in his crate as Shelby is. Also that they are very content in their crates.

Unfortunately the crate has a warning that it is not recommended for puppies or chewers. It is lovely though, maybe for an adult cav!

Didn't think about that! Thanks Cathy, good point. I started out with Jake's toys in a wicker basket but he was much more interested in eating the wicker than playing with the toys :?

I think I'm definitely going to go with the crate that Cathy has. Looks nice and that's awesome that you can get crate covers! I'll be getting the khaki covers for sure!

Thanks so much for all of your help!

I really like these crates. I made it into a really cozy place when they were babies. Neither of mine had problems with weeing in their crates so I was able to stuff blankets in there and a small pillow so it was very cozy and soft. I know others have not put "stuff" in there because of weeing problems. We did have an x-pen around it on top of a linoleum floor laid on top of some heavy duty plywood as a floor and that was where they hung out if I had to leave the room during house training.

The other thing I really like about these crates is that they are very sturdy. You don't have to worry about them collapsing or the pins coming loose.

We actually use the double door pet stages as our end tables in our sitting rooms...we found black trays at pottery barn and my husband attached them to the tops of the crate. They make perfect "tables" in our casual TV room...many don't even notice that they are dog crates until out babes walk in them to get out of the way.

Katy was quite a barker intermittantly at night in her crate. She had a nice soft cushy pillow, snuggle pup and crateware cover but.....it was not until I put a nice cuddly nest bed inside the crate along with the blanky and pup that she is now quiet all night. The crate just was too big for her I think. Never had an accident and now sleeps til dawn. She curls up and goes right to sleep...only need the earplugs on the weekend now when I want to sleep in.....until 6:45 am instead of 6:00am.

Now I remember Nancy...that's what I did! I had totally forgotten about what we did to make it super cozy in there. It was a nest bed we put in there.
