View Full Version : What should my puppy's name be?

6th December 2006, 05:12 AM
I'm getting a cavalier king charles spaniel puppy in about one month time! :D

It will (MOST LIKELY) be a blenheim boy and here are my name choices:

1) Charlie
2) Bailey
3) Cooper
4) Ollie
5) Jasper
6) Coby
7) Joey
8 ) Sammy
9) Sparky
10) Shelby
11) Geordie
12) Casper

I would love to hear what you think about the names and if you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear! :flwr:

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks Joanne :) Ahh it's so hard to decide.. can a pup have more than one name? Lol icon_whistling

6th December 2006, 07:09 AM
I kind of like Ollie..

6th December 2006, 07:39 AM
I like Ollie too, in fact I have sworn that any more males in this house will be called Oliver - due to the fact that every single Cavalier I know behaves just like him ....... 'Can I have some ... more?'

I really like 'Bailey' and then second probably 'Coby'...are these the only choices your picking from? or are you still open to suggestions??

I like Ollie to but I like to put another name in how about Mattie ---Aileen

6th December 2006, 10:38 AM
Lol I like Mattie thanks :) But my dad is called Matthew so it would be a bit strange!

The problem with Ollie is that with Charlie, it's one of the most common names used for cavalier boys. I'd get the puppy , then say the names to him and see which he reacts to.

I think Ollie and Gordie are cute! Lol!

My hubby and I are in the great name debate right now too (another post-Expecting).

We have been promised a girl if there is one in the litter! Woot Woot!

So many good names, how can you choose?! icon_nwunsure

I like Ollie & Cooper. Or, if you are still open to suggestions, before we knew we were getting a girl we were thinking of naming a boy 'Harley'. Thought it was kind of cute. :D

6th December 2006, 10:16 PM
I like Ollie and Sparky. Sparky is just cute and spunky ... !

7th December 2006, 05:15 AM

Ollie is really growing on me too. That's my fav on the list.

7th December 2006, 05:53 AM
Thanks Coco's mum! It is on me too a long with Jasper and Geordie.. I think those 3 or my favourites

7th December 2006, 05:58 AM
I think you almost have to wait until you have your little boy at home, to determine the name that will "fit" him. What about Quincy? It sure fits our little guy. :D

7th December 2006, 06:02 AM
Thanks Linda :) I hope to decide on Sunday when I see him because I only have a couple of favourites now. Quincy is very cute but I just can't hear myself saying it ;) Thanks for the suggestion though

I have a Bailey.... so I'm all for that name! LOL! They're all really cute names!

8th December 2006, 05:11 AM
Lol thanks Remali  I can't wait to visit him now.. roughly 2 days away!

8th December 2006, 05:15 AM
Sorry your dad doesn't like Sparky ... :(

Oh, well, my friend Mary is getting a Lab in a few weeks ... and guess what name is high on her list??? I was shocked to find out too ... SPARKY!!! So I might just know a Sparky little puppy yet!!

Have fun when you meet your puppy for the first time!!

8th December 2006, 05:49 AM
Yeah Ollie is quite a cute name but i think im still for Coby...though now i think about it what about Cody? thats a cute name! i think i like it better that Coby. And i love the name Bailey too. though i dont think your pup really suits a Bailey from the avatar..but it could work!

go with your gut decision on the naming thing...if ya like Ollie..well go for it.

i was just browsing on the net for names and some of the popular names are like "dweeb" , "geeK", "nightmare" and "malice"....i mean who in the world would give their gorgeous dog such horrible names???

btw if anyone here has the names above...i apologise for saying that but seriously?

8th December 2006, 06:17 AM
Thanks Nisha! :) I was thinking about Cody but I think I prrefer Coby more it's easier to say (for me) and I just like it better.. its great to know we all have different opinions know!

Oh I know its horrible! What stupid names for dogs!

8th December 2006, 09:11 AM
Personally i liked "Sparky" immediately!
It's a little a rascal name...i think...
It even means he's shiny beautiful...which he certainly is...
Looks like "Spottie" my cavs name...

8th December 2006, 10:20 PM
Hey Em,
It's Kori!!! Like i said before, i like the name Bailey, um Joe is cute! um I had a hard time trying to think of cute names but you seem to have a good list there.
