4th January 2007, 01:39 PM
We are looking for 4 adult cavaliers to attend a FREE training class which will be filmed for a piece on Irish TV. Any budding stars?

We are also looking for lots of puppies (any breed) for a play group/socialisation session also for the TV piece.

This will happen next Wednesday time the time to be confirmed. You should be available during the day. Location: DTI Training Centre beside Dublin Airport.

Please send a mail to info@dogtrainingireland.com with your dog/puppy details. This will be organised on a first come first served basis.

Thanks,
Tara

With three legs, he'd have a hard time on much of the agility equipment, but there is that barn full of grain and mice next door... 8)

I'm not sure. Does anyone else have problems seeing my avatar or pics?

They are just normal jpeg images but they are kept on separate webpage from a website that I manage.

Here's my avatar image:

When you can;t see a pic it is usually only because some sort of maintenance is being done on the site that hosts the pictures, or there's some server problems there.

It might be a browser problem at your end then -- I can see them no problem! Try clearing your browser cache. And check to see if pics are being blocked for some reason.

Joanna, Belle is even more courageous than we thought as Mishka is not a Siberian Husky but rather the larger Malamute breed and an angel of a dog :D She is only about 11 months old and look at the size of her!

Thanks to everyone for attending yesterday. If anyone has anymore shots please post them here. We hope you enjoyed the 3 hours and that you get to see your dogs on TV. I hope you all have your animal agents sorted!

We will have it recorded on a hard disk so we *should* be able to post the link to the video file here or upload for viewing.

So anyone outside Ireland should be able to view it :)

Looks like it's on alright:

Dog Lovers

In 2004 Irish consumers spent about €125 million euro on dog food and over a dog's average lifespan of 12 years the cost of keeping your pooch can amount to as much as running a car. The early months of the New Year are the months when many puppies given as Christmas presents end up in the dog pound abandoned or with the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The national average for unwanted dogs destroyed is about 26,000. The relationship between dog and owner is a special one and today we talk to three dog owners who are passionate about their pooches.

Karlin
17th January 2007, 02:49 PM
Oh yippee! Two of the three I think are cavalier owners and one was a dalmation.

There should be a few cavaliers and owners sitting in the background while the dalmation guy is being interviewed ;)

I have to wait till I get home from work to see it :(

All our cavs got in! Milly was sitting pretty, Jaspar was doing his agility (and showing up all the collies), Indy and Daisy Boo were in there and Bella showed off her heelwork. It was great!

hi everyone! silly me i just realised that this thread was here. i hadn't looked at it since the original notice about the show.

indy had a great time! hubby charlie was there with him and really enjoyed it. indy i think was a bit overcome with excitement at all the other dogs---couple of shots of him running amok during the training. charlie and i were watching it through our fingers but ended up laughing the whole time. he's such a silly monkey! :sl*p:

call me biased but i think the cavs stole the show. joanna that was such a lovely shot of daisy looking up at you with adoration :D

i don't know who had the lovely little tri-colour on the agility course but it was so fun to watch! once we get indy through the basics we'll definately go for agility.

we have an MPEG of the DTI section of the show so if i can figure out how to make it available i'll let you all know. hubby is the technical one and he's working for the rest of the week so updates later

:D k

I taped this and Joanna watched it when she got home last night. We paused it on the close up shot of Daisy Boo and when she saw herself on the telly she went mental! Normally she barely notices the tv but when she saw a supersized self up on the screen she started jumping back and forth barking like a lunatic. I don't think she liked how she was lit or something icon_whistling

This has already happened -- just a one afternoon event for RTE to film, and the program ran Wednesday (repeated this morning again at 10am) -- but DTI's latest schedule of regular classes is here:

www.dogtrainingireland.ie

Ofiicial trainers to Cavaliertalk, by appointment!

Hey folks note that there is a session for beginning agility, for those whose cavaliers are old enough! :) If there is room, I might do this with Lily.

Claire L
19th January 2007, 07:48 PM
I'd love to do it with Minnie but with her Op looming and my back at the moment, we'll just have to wait until the next round.

The show was great but I was very disappointed that Tara wasn't interviewed for longer and it would have been great to see Jaspar :lotsaluv: do the full course.....he looks more like a hare running around  - he's so switched on and FAST!!

Joanna & Charlie gave great interviews as did everyone so Well Done!!
Glad you all had a blast...

For many people who have only met Jaspar on walks, that was probably the first time you have SEEN and NOT heard him... . You can see that all that fussing energy he has on walks can be channelled into something useful.

Note that some of the classes up on the DTI site don't begin til late Feb and are already booking out so it will likely be March before new classes come on offer.
