View Full Version : A few items I'm searching for, can anyone help?

20th March 2007, 01:43 AM
OK, there are a few items I have been in search for that I can't seem to find.

1) One of those knot cutter things. It's got curved blades to run thru their knots like a brush, but it cuts them. My mom has one for her Gordon Setter, but everywhere I find them they're SO expensive!

2) Cute, plain t-shirts, jackets, sweaters, etc. Everything I see has logos, words, ruffles, pockets, collars, or other cutsie stuff that isn't my style. I bought a t-shirt and windbreaker jacket for Indy last year from Old Navy (the shirt had stripes and the jacket was lime green outside with blue fleece inside) and I got her a cute wintery sweater from Target this Xmas, but now we have the new addition and I'd like something to keep him warm! Local shopping is preferred, but online is fine too.

3) Black & white checkered collars/leashes. My boyfriend and I both race our cars, and we'd love to find checkered collars for the dogs when we go to the track. You would think with all the checkered sneakers & clothes that are popular with the high-school kids right now this would be easy to find, but I've found it impossible!

That's all I can think of for now, but if I think of anything more I'll post them up. Thanks in advance for your help!

OK, I did find this on Tia Bellas: http://www.tiabellas.com/boutique/images/shirts/stripetee.jpg (http://www.tiabellas.com/boutique/stripe-tee-p-57.html)

That's along the lines of what I'd like for my dogs. Simple, not flashy. Any other finds?

Are you NASCAR fans? If so this link might work for the leash/collar:

Not checkered, but the NASCAR stripe. I'll search for a few minutes and update this post if I see anything else.

Here are some cute dog jerseys if you have a favorite driver:

For the Dematting Rake, I found this at Petsmart:

You can also go to www.mysimon.com and type in "dematting rake" - that'll pull up lots of options for you to shop around and find the best price.

20th March 2007, 03:30 AM
Does that work pretty well (the rake)? The one my mom has is more curved and has less blades.

20th March 2007, 03:37 AM
I don't personally have that brand, but I have a similar one (also a cheap one) that I used to use on my cat - it worked fine to me, but I don't have anything to compare it to ;-) Luckily, I've not had to use it on Lucky yet.

Hopefully others can comment on the most effective and cost effective dematting rakes ...

The Mars Coat King is brilliant for removing knots and also for thinning out an unruly coat. I have got the 20 blade one.

This shop has tons of clothes so you might be able to find something here http://www.trixieandpeanut.com I actually saw NASCAR dog clothes on a site before. If I find it I will let you know. I have an online store myself www.hartonpaw.com but at the minute I'm not sure if I have what you are looking for but check it out. I have some cool military style coats arriving at begining of April so check back again then they might be more your style.

http://www.glamourdog.com/sports.html they have nascar collars at the bottom of the page.

25th March 2007, 04:07 AM
Thanks for the finds, but we're actually not Nascar fans, we do a different kind of racing. But now you see my dilemma, nothing checkered to be found!

Ok I found a few more on this site that might suit!

They don't put things on the front of their products just nice simple patterns. Hope this helps!

OMG! Look at this collar I found on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Checkered-Flag-Print-Dog-Collar-Collars-Small_W0QQitemZ320079809047QQcategoryZ20746QQtcZph otoQQcmdZViewItem

They have other sizes at the seller's store if Small isn't the right size ...

These I like even better ... http://www.pettender.com/bchecks.htm

I just googled "Checkered Dog Collar" ....

This checkered bandana is cute too if you want something a little more obvious than a collar while you're at the races ...

OMG, these are the best things ever!

Thanks for the finds! :D

OK, I don't know where this site was in my searched before, but the ENTIRE site sells checkered things, like 1,000 items, including pet stuff. http://www.racechex.com

I bought the checkered cake pan (how fun!), a tote bag, checkbook cover, and 2 small collars for the kids! We already have black leashes, so I just went with the wider collars (like the eBay one, but the sixing was more compatible and should be adjustable for charlie as well as Indy)

That checkered site is so funny. I love it!

25th March 2007, 11:48 PM
That cakepan looks interesting.....please let me know if it works!!

OK, I'm back on the hunt again. I bought a striped tee shirt for Indy last year, as well as a fleece-lined windbreaker (both from Old Navy), as well as a cute sweater from Target. I don't like the sweater as much as the tee shirt though because she gets knots in her fur in it, not the case with the tee. Well now we are planning to take them to PA with us for Xmas, and assuming there will be snow this year, I want to find at least one more tee (for Charlie) as well as two winter jackets.

So far this http://pet.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pPETS-3765881t400.jpg is my favorite jacket I've found (PetSmart $25), and it comes in 2 colors, so Charlie can have blue/red and Indy can have pink/purple. I like that it has full belly coverage, but I don't like the fact that the hood isn't removable, so I'm wondering if I can find something that is.

Any suggestions for either item? I'd like to keep t-shirts to $10-15 each, and jackets $25-30 each. Thanks in advance for any help!

Have you looked at this website?

They have some sweatshirts on clearance.

28th October 2007, 04:25 PM
I actually went to PetCo yesterday to check out their selection, and they have a little section of 'AKC Travel Series' merchandise (they only show 4 items on their website, and a web search didn't turn up the rest anywhere else), but it's all charcoal gray with light gray accents, very nice looking, and they had a fleece sweatshirt available for $20. They had a nice windbreaker too, but Indy's Old Navy fleece-lined sweatshirt she has still fits, so we can use that with this new sweatshirt. I was so happy to find them! I may still order a few plain t-shirts from here (http://www.lovelonglong.com/item_list.php?intGroupIDDefault=1&intClassIDDefault=109&intClassSubIDDefault=380)as well. Thanks for your help once again! :thnku:

OMG I am SO ordering a bunch of the Asian outfits! Those are too hilarious; I will use them the next dinner party I hold...

I sent you an e-mail yesterday, but I just saw your post today. I can definitely make you a black and white checkered leash. As I said yesterday, I do make collars and leashes. I would just have to get the fabric...no big deal.
