is it just natural most cavs enjoy the water?? lily has only touched puddles, & the edge of the sea with her nose but never ventured into it.. not sure when to allow her to jump into even a shallow area as i am still afraid to let her of her lead.... :?

I think in general cavs seem to love the water. On walks Cassie would purposely walk through every single puddle she came across because she loved water so much. Honey doesn't like the water quite so much.

I don't think their love of water extends to rain or wet grass though . Bella dances around like a ballerina when the grass is wet  I'm getting in a small patio this weekend so no more wet feet for Princess Bella

sorry but jadan is too much of a royal to be getting his feet wet :D "where is that escort with that coat to put on that puddle" is what j is thinking icon_whistling ;) i think it may be because when he was very small he walked onto a very shallow stream covered in algie :yuk: and whoosh!!! fell straigh in :? (must have thought it was just grass!!! did i panic or what :yikes :yikes at least i found out he could swim but he has stayed well clear of water since then icon_whistling if i walk across the stream to the other bank he will walk up and down and whine for me to come back over, wont even venture to put a paw in. still......least i dont have a wet smelly doggy ;) :flwr: :flwr:

Maybe our dogs are weird, but most of them don't like the water. I have never understood that. They're spaniels, for crying out loud!

It took a couple of trips to convince Ollie to even set foot in the water! (The dam is just a 10 minutes walk) He now goes in sometimes if I can coax him by getting into the water myself, but not everytime. He once went in so he could greet another dog but that was only once. He mostly watches the other dogs swimming around from the safety of the sand, but his proved he can swim! ;)

Bihop hates water. He will jump over puddles if he can. He's better when it rains now, but he used to really hate going out in the rain. (and baths...he used to stand pathetically as he got a bath, but now he merely hears the water for my shower and he runs off) Oddly enough he enjoys the water sprinklers in the neighborhood.

The funny thing is that his breeder has a swimming pool and swims with her cavaliers in the summer.

NB: Emily, I love that picture of Ollie. It cracks me up every time I see it.

My Bentley will hold his pee forever if it is raining outside, wants nothing to do with it. I have even had to take him out with a big umbrella because I just knew he had to go and he won't go inside (thankfully, most of the time). Now my puppy Aston will run around in the pouring rain all day long as long as he gets to run around, but try and give him a bath and he will have none of it! I guess mine are picky as to what kind of water... :p
