Irish Canine Club

Comments, anyone know about them?

We are linked from them but that was done without permission so I am trying to have that removed right now with great difficulty.

Anyone have experience? Can anyone enlighten us. The site is very nice and professional.

It seems they are the alternative to the Irish Kennel Club BUT obviously your dog has to be Irish KENNEL club registered to be shown etc. The IKC would hold all the lines, show results, green stars etc.

I've posted on them a short time ago.

A reminder to Irish puppy buyers that the IKC, www.ikc.ie, is the only national registry recognised by the professional worldwide registries (the UK KC, AKC, CKCSC, etc), and seen as an equivalent in professionalism and correct breeding practice. Only an IKC registered dog can be joint registered to these other clubs, for this reason. Only IKC champions have any professional meaning in the international show world and would have global recognition as champions judged by internationally respected judges.

Many other registries, for example the long list of so-called bogus registries I have posted here...

...will allow almost any dog to be registered. Find out more here:

Some bogus registries:

FIC - Federation of International Canines - mimics the legit FCI--Federacion Cinologica Internacional
CKC - Continental Kennel Club - mimics the legit Canadian Kennel Club
Canine Kennel Club
APR - American Pet Registry
North American Purebred Dog Registry
Krystle Kennel Club
Dog Registry of America
American Canine Association, Inc.
American Purebred Registry
America's Pet Registry Inc
National Kennel Club
Purebred Canine International Registry Service
United All Breed Registry
Universal Kennel Club - mimics the legit United Kennel Club
US Breeder's Registry
World Wide Kennel Club
Federation of Rare Breeds
National Pet Breeders Association
United American Kennel Club
United Kennel Club International
US Kennel Club
International Kennel Club (mimics the Irish Kennel Club)

Be sure to always consider carefully why a breeder might not be registering to one of the internationally-recognised regsitries in the professional show breeding world.

Until such a time as it is better understood who is behind the new Irish registry, what its purpose is, how it manages accounts, how is stages and judges shows and what meaning a champion would have within that system, how it caretakes breeds, and why a second registry is felt to be needed in such a small country, I would advise people to only work with IKC-registered breeders who also satisfy all the cavalier health testing protocols, and are established show breeders of repute. We all know the challenges this breed faces and breeder accountability within an established, internationally recognised registry and formal breed club is an essential factor IMHO in choosing a reputable breeder.
