Precautionary Rice Protein Recall: Drs. Foster & Smith Adult Dry Lite Dog and Adult Dry Lite Cat Food

my goodness! it's getting kinda scary now that some of the foods on the whole do journals lits of top dog foods are starting to sneak their way into the list of recalled foods. :(

It's very frightening because from the cheapest generic brand of dog food to the premium foods that make "The Best Dog Food Lists" the names are appearing on recall lists.

The wide range is appearing because rice protein is actually considered a very good addition to foods. WDJ make this point in a note in their current issue... before the rice protein recall began. While cheaper foods and a lot of treats use wheat gluten, a lot of quality foods use rice protein because it is a good ingredient.

It is important to keep in mind that many of these current recalls are only *precautionary* -- that means they have no evidence of any problem with the rice concentrate they have used, but to be extra safe they are acting themselves to take items off the shelves while any uncertainty remains.

Also important to remember that with many manufacturers it isn't ALL their foods that they have recalled but just one or more that they are concerned about -- though again this often is not due to any known problem, it is a precaution.

Wading through all these recalls though is a major headache at best for the consumer and often much worse because people know they have fed a problem food and fear what implications that might have.
