An Update on Us!

Hi Guys,

I am sorry it's been a while since I checked in with you all.

I wanted to let you guys know, we've been doing wonderful. Avi and I made a trip back to Washington State in June for 3 weeks and both of the dogs came with us. They flew! They were both amazing though and they had a ball in Washington. They got to run around my mom's property without a leash and that was just heaven for them. Faith got her first taste of goat poop, cow poop, horse poop.. you get the point :grnyuk:

We went to the beach on the Oregon Coast and that was a lot of fun:

Here they are playing with their wubbba. I swear that's been the best toy EVER !! They each took a leg of it and brought it back to me together.. lol

Faith is gigantic now. She's currently 18lbs which is 2 1/2 more lbs than Kosmo

Here she is in her airline bag:

It is made by celltei and was the best bag EVER. I took Kosmo in a sherpa and Faith in that. Everybody in the airport stopped us to see Kos, but Faith was able to slide by incognito which made life a lot more simple.

I had her to the vet the day we left and I was told that she needs to lose a lb! What a fatty!! hehe I love her to death - she's really grown up a lot. She loves Avi more than life itself and she I think will turn into a kid's therapy dog sometime in the future.

As for Kosmo, we're still visiting the same retirement home. Unfortunately, Kosmo suffered a leg injury on June 3rd which was 3 days before our vacation. I took him to the vet who gave him some metcam, told me to take it easy, and call if there were any more problems. We went on Vacation and he seemed to have gotten a bit better. After we got back, however, things started to slide south. I called the vet who advised me to keep him on restriction for 2 weeks and see how it goes and if nothing happens then he needs to be in for x-rays. As of last friday (a week into restriction) I made my appt as I cannot wait any longer. I feel like I am causing him to suffer more than necessary and It's a nightmare guys, really. I'm going in today for X-rays of his leg and hopefully it will be OK, so please cross your fingers for us!

Here are Kos and Faith side by side - it's hard to tell she's only 8 months, huh!

Thanks !

they are truly beautiful doggie and i love the pictures of them! Fingers crossed Kosmo getas on well with the x-ray!

Love the pictures Sarah!!

How much does Faith weigh now? I really like that Camo Celltei bag ...

Not that I need to be investing in a new carrier just yet (I have the large Deluxe Sherpa with wheels ...), but maybe I need to put the Celltei on my Christmas list. It looks like she had plenty of room in that bag ...

Hey Lani,

I hated the sherpa :yikes

No offense, but it was SOOO recognized by EVERYBODY. I was pulled out of line and asked to show a receipt that i paid while Avi and Faith got to skate on through :bang: Thank God I kept it.

She had plenty of room in the bag but it was a bit too short (17") I got in touch with the makers of celltei regarding lengthening the bag and believe it or not, they sent me a brand new prototype for the 20" long one!! Faith LOVES it, Kosmo fits in it, and I like the camo. The only problem is they get HEAVY when you have to carry them through the airport. I may buy a back pack one next time so I can at least carry them on my back.

Oh yeah and Faith is 18lbs now :yikes

Fingers crossed for the x-ray :xfngr: good luck :D

Sara, does the vet say whether it's a hip or knee problem that Kosmo has? Or aren't they sure yet?

Lovely photos, especially the beach!! Faith is growing up fast!:)

I think the moon was alligned funny that weekend in October...TILLY WEIGHS AS MUCH AS FAITH. We call her Tilly Tank. I wonder how much little Zoey weighs???

I always love your pics, Sara!

Hi!

Great pics, love the travel bag, sure looks like you had a fun time, sorry to hear about Kosmo's leg injury, hope it all heals up ok :xfngr:

LOL You mean Faith weighs as much as Tilly!! I think she's like a month younger or something ;) Faith's bday is November 12th - I can't believe she outweighs Kos by 2 1/2lbs

Unfortunately guys, the vet did not have good news for us. :( Kosmo apparently has not one, but 2 luxating patellas. I don't understand how he could have been carefully examined in late May and seen to have NO problems what so ever (no signs or symptoms and the vet said his knees were great) to being a severe case 3 months later that's going to require surgery. I don't get it. And then she said his other leg was bad which I had no idea. I don't remember him having any kind of serious accident that would be the cause, either. I just don't understand how I can go from a normal dog to a severe-in-need-of-surgery dog in 3 months.

Any how, I wasn't able to get the xrays last night because he needs sedation so I've booked those for tomorrow morning. He'll be dropped off @ 7AM and I'll pick him up at around 5PM. Those are the docs that will be going to the orthopedic specialists.

Fortunately I have a very prestigous university about 1 1/2 hrs from me that I am more than willing to drive him to. I feel that he'll likely get the best care there, so I'm going to get a referral with their orthos when I find out the severity of the luxations. Hopefully once we see the x-rays his knees won't be THAT bad.

The X-Rays are $400. :yikes That's JUST X-rays guys. Thank God I have pet insurance. If any of you don't have it, I suggest you seriously look into it as vet bills can go up quite high, quite fast.

Thanks for thinking of us :dogwlk:

Hmmm...I don't know why I was thinking that they has closer birthdays...maybe Zoey just has a close birthday...or it might just be I am completely nuts (which is a DEFINITE possibility). Tilly's is October 21st.

I am so sorry to hear about Kosmo. :( I hope he is healed up quickly

Are you talking about my Zoey :D ???

tee hee!! Zoey is still ITTY BITTY. She only weighs around 12lbs right now, which is a nice comparison to Welsey's 22lbs and Cody's 25lbs :yikes .

Sara: I loooove the pic of Faith in her Celti...soooo cute. I'm sorry to hear about Kos' leg...I hope you get better news soon. It's odd that it happened so suddenly! Poor baby..pooping is strenuous work, but I have never heard of a dog throwing out his knee because of it!!

Yes it was your little Zoey I was talking about. I think her birthday is close to Tilly's, right?:paw:
