• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Are Dog Walkers reducing bird numbers?

Maybe I'm dense, but so what if the birds fly away for a while? I'm not familiar with the area, but do they fly 50' away? 100' away? It sounds like they come back (how long before they come back?) and it isn't like they're being killed. They mentioned nesting might be affected. If the birds are being constantly scared off by dogs being walked, do you suppose they might find somewhere away from the dog walking area to nest? Is that somehow a problem? BTW, we have bird feeders and bird houses in our back yard and we always have birds in both; they fly away when the dogs go out and are right back when the dogs come back in the house.

Yes, I am very much prejudiced in favor of the dogs, but I am trying to look at this objectively and understand what the harm may be.
 
She's not really interested in birds, but Annie seems to treat every walk as a mission to rid the neighborhood of squirrels and bunnies -- or at least scare the bejeezus out of them. We call her the Little Red Hunter.
