Log Cabin Holidays??

Hi,ive always wanted to go on a log cabin holiday and now we have Mollie i think next year is the perfect time.Id love it to be beside a lake with not many other cabins around so the boys can fish and i can sit with mollie with a good book and play fetch(if she gets the hang of it lol)Not the kind of holiday you might think for a 26 year old but im done with all the clubbing,and pubing id rather go for a nice meal or get food in with a bottle of wine.Partners boys a keen fisherman so i think they would love it.Mollie too of course.
Anyone know of any?Were open to were we travel may it be scotland or lands end lol.
Has anyone been on a cabin holiday?

i am going to stay in a log cabin in the new forest in 12 days and it is dog friendly.i will let you know how we get on.this is where we are staying.:flwr:

Center Parcs now allow dogs. Our newsagent loves going to their resorts and visits two or three times a year. They have a website.

Wow Laura - that is quite the nice house in the woods. You'll enjoy that.

I don't think you'd be interested in flying to the US then. But we have lots and lots of rustic cabin sites in New York State. It is usually pretty inexpensive. But we didn't have lodges like Laura's to stay in.

In western and central New York State we have a lot of mountains (Adirondacks http://visitadirondacks.com/ & Catskills http://www.visitthecatskills.com/ ) and cabins through out that can be rented. Closer to my home we have Allegany State Park http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=91 and there are lots of cabins to rent there. That was my favorite vacation when I was in my twenties and thirties and didn't have a lot of money to spend on a vacation. I always brought my dogs with me too.

One great thing about this type of vacation is that you are usually next to a lot of walking trails through the wilderness and you can take you dogs on the hikes.
