Hi

Just wondering if any of you who show dogs can tell me what the " A V " stands for when you see the categories in a show? eg AV Toy Group.

Also what does it mean when a dog has a stud book number and how do they accquire one?

Many thanks

I believe that AV refers to 'any variety'.

AV means Any Variety
To get a Stud Book number in the UK your dog has to be shown in certain classes and do well at Championship shows. I havent shown for a long time now so I am not familar with the current rules. Getting your stud book number is an big achievement but not as much as becoming a Champion, and it used to mean that you had qualified for Crufts.
