• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

i look on a few rescue sites as i figured it would be the best way to find out the sort of problems i am likely to encounter when i eventually start seriously looking for a dog. I NEVER see cav's on them. tell a lie i have seen one on dog pages in the last 3 month's. are there really so few about or am i looking in totally the wrong place?
 
When we were very active in rescue we had about 50 cavs a year so they are there if you look for them.
We don't do rescue so much now but had one for rehoming not long ago & still occassionally get strays from the pound or ex puppyfarm dogs.
 
We found Charley through petfinders.com and at the time that we rescued him, I saw about 5 other cavaliers from various rescue agencies. 2 of the were mixes.
 
There are definatly cavaliers in rescue, although depending on your area it may take a while, or you may have to travel to find the right cavalier :) You may also consider contacting a few breeders, occasionally they will have dogs they've retired from their breeding program that need good homes! That's how I got my Amber (well, sort of, I knew the breeder I got Amber from LONG before she decided to place Amber).
 
I am not sure where you are located. If it is in the United Sates, there are too many Cavaliers needing rescue, but not many puppies. Lots of young adults and then more seniors. Here are the three places I would recommend:

Before you decide to go the rescue route, make certain that is what you truly want to do, recognizing the risks of possible health and behaviour issues. Do not do it just to get a cheap dog. I do not have a resue dog. I admire the folks who do and hope to also have one some day. The decision making process is, however, somewhat different than if you are getting a puppy from a reputable/responsible breeder.
 
They are hard to find sometimes. It took us 2 months to 'find' Bradley after Declan died last year. We had to travel 700 mile round trip for him, but he's worth it. :)

You are listed with Cavalier Rescue, aren't you? Also look on the Dog Pages forums and The Refuge. I'm sure you know all rescues will carry out a homecheck.

They are about, as Angela says, but are such a lovely breed that they are very popular.
 
i am in the u.k not registered with the rescue yet as i am not quite ready to start looking seriously. i was just surprised there seemed to be so little about. i am registered with refuge but i have problems with dog pages as the only email address i have is hotmail.
 
There is also Many Tears rescue in Wales - some rescue centers are run independently so some may have aol or hotmail kind of addresses. Also www.cavalierrescue.co.uk and the national cavalier website will have details re rescuing.
