crate to buy or borrow

Hi all this may seem really cheeky but would anyone in the Dublin area (northside if possible) have a crate or pen I could buy or borrow. I am fostering a dog with a view to homing and I gave all my old stuff I didn't (or rather thought I wouldn't need!) to Dogs Aid when Pippin was two years old.

I don't want to purchase a brand new one in case things don't work out as they are so expensive. If anyone knows where I can get one second hand I would be really grateful.

Yeah I have both! I am crate central and have a pen as well that I can loan you. Give me a ring tomorrow. :) I will likely be out mid to late morning then will be in at home til I go over to Newstalk around 6pm. You can come collect Monday, or I can drop by on Tuesday -- I just won't have time to drive it over Monday as my deadlines are really stacked up on that day.

pippa, sorry to 'borrow' your thread. Karlin, Max is scratching the kitchen door at night, and digging holes in the lino. Thinking of giving a crate a go. What do you think?

I always think crate training is a good idea as it gives a good way of managing a dog for times when you need to confine.

I'd recommend getting a comfy wire crate for him -- Argos sells them as do Dog Training Ireland -- and work on crate training. You can cover a wire crate with a towel or similar to make it more enclosed. During the day, keep the door open so he can go in and out and toss some treats inside now and then and some toys. At night, put him inside the crate with stuffed Kong to work away on.
