Puppy Kindergarten???

I am debating whether or not to sign my puppy up for classes. He will be almost 16 weeks old when the next series starts. Anxious to hear if any of you found it to be well worth it- it's a little pricey, but if it is good for him I'll take him. Otherwise I can wait until he is 18 weeks or older and then start beginner obedience. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

All my three girls did their puppy classes at about 10 weeks then went on to good dog classes straight after i think there was about 10 classes per course and each course was about £85 so x3 for the puppy and same again for the dog class it was a few bob.
But i am glad they did it great socialisation for them and you and them do pick up some hints ,then took Poopy and Daisy on an agility course it was ok but i dont think Rosie will be going

I did puppy kindergarten with Jake five years ago. He was my first puppy as an adult and I really went to the class more for me than for him. It was very educational and I got a lot out of it. We didn't do it with Shelby....Jake provided puppy kindergarten for her himself!!

We've done puppy kindergarten with two of ours. I love it. Its fun for us, plus helps you get to know other puppy owners. It was especially useful for Mika, who is so shy around other dogs. She spent a lot of time hiding behind chairs.

We've just finished our third class - recreation agility and I didn't even notice it, but one of the instructors commented on how much more outgoing Mika was around other dogs - it was true. She didn't spend any time hiding under chairs during this last class.

We took Marley to 2 different puppy classes and obedience training afterwards. I HIGHLY recommend it. We didnt take my last dog to either and he suffered because of it. Even though we socialised him with neighbours dogs he was never very good with other dogs, terrified msot of the time. Marley on the other hand is SO god with other dogs no matter the size, colour or appearance. He was exposed to such a wide variety of dogs and situations, he is turning out to be such a confident, out going and friendly little man.

I am a huge believer in the importance of puppy kindergarten. We encourage all our puppy people to enroll their puppy as soon as the puppy has had its rabies shot. It's a chance to socialize the puppy with strangers and other dogs of other breeds and sizes. I think you'll find your puppy will love the classes and you will also learn a lot about the basics of obedience.

BTW, I believe strongly enough in the importance of socialization that every one of our dogs has been to puppy kindergarten. The only thing I do differently is that I want my puppy to stand when I come to a stop after heeling because I will be showing the puppy in conformation and sitting in the ring is a no-no. The instructor knows this, but I always have to explain it to the other people in the class.

OK...I took all of your advice and signed Jato up for Puppy Kindergarten. Luckily they have a class just for small breeds- I couldn't imagine him playing with a big lab puppy. We start in 2 weeks, and now I am excited and looking forward to lots of helpful information.
