View Full Version : Problems logging on?

I've been told a couple of people are being redirected to odd pages when they try to log on. I've checked the page code and the vBulletin site and there's no reports of problems. I can log in no problem using two different browsers -- Safari and Firefox -- but am on a Mac which generally is not affected by this type of problem (because these things are almost all written for Windows).

It sounds to me like there's a virus, some spyware, or malicious code generally that people have ended up with installed on their PCs that is trying to redirect them.

I'd do a couple of free online scans here:

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
http://www.housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://virusscan.jotti.org/

and see if anything comes up.

I use the Mozilla browser and can get to this site just fine. But when I try to go to sm.cavaliertalk.com, it redirects to different page.

Sorry folks, that was my fault -- the domain needed to be renewed and the contact email was an account I never use. So I never saw the notification. I forgot this domain was still with a place where I can only renew a year at a time, so I have transferred it. However that meant for a while you would only have got a placemarker page for the domain or any subdomains and as it all percolates through the domain name servers at different rates, some might have been unable to bring up the site earlier than others. All sorted now though!

That's good -- I had the same problem last night and tried to do a scan on my PC and didn't come up with anything.

Yep, happened here too! I was realllly concerned when a green page with alot of different cavalier site links came up repeatedly as I tried to log on. I thought my computer had gremlins so I shut it down. That explains it. Thanks Karlin! Thought I was losing my mind!
