Sam's old rescue thread is long and rambling now so I am doing him a fresh thread to help him find his home. :)
Sam, a handsome little blenheim man with a freckled muzzle, came into rescue in poor health, having had none of his vet needs looked after for a very long time. He had an undescended testicle that was supposed to have been removed four years ago because they are at higher risk for cancer but the owners 'never got around to it'. On finally sending him for his neuter, we found it had since turned very swollen and painful inside his abdomen. Its removal made him a lot more comfortable, but a biopsy showed it was indeed cancerous. However in dogs testicular cancer develops very slowly and only very rarely spreads and the vets are confident it is out and gone and had not spread elsewhere, thankfully! A general vet exam showed that like half of cavaliers his age, he also has a heart murmur that needs to be treated.
Now he is recovering from all of that drama and has settled in very happily at his foster home, where he especially enjoys the company of other dogs (as you can see!). He is a quiet and happy dog that particularly enjoys sitting on chairs! He has been a very easy going dog and affectionate. He also gets along very well with cats! :winkct:
This striking cavalier needs a home without young children (teens or adults only please) and would especially like to be in with another dog. He would be perfect for a home where someone does not want a hyperactive dog -- he loves to go for walks and play outside and with other dogs but is not intensely active and enjoys just sitting inside watching the goings on in the house too.
If you are interested in offering Sam a home, please PM me. You will need to complete a homing application at my Irish Cavalier Rescue website (http://www.ckcsrescue.com) where you can find information on the breed and rescue dogs generally.
