Any experience?

Well as you all know Qwick has arthroses but since we want to go on the cavaliers walks (http://www.cavaliermeuteke.com), I don't want to leave him at home, since I know how much he'll enjoy it..
If it depends on Qwick, he'll walk the full distance I think, but... I just know that if he does that he'll have to suffer afterwards, so I decided to look for a solution..
At first we were thinking about a stroller, but since the walks aren't roads it could give some problems, so we went to look for a backpack and we ended up with this

So now I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this? I've been emailing some stores over here but so far none have it so I can see it (and put Qwick next to it) before I buy it..
I'm not going to buy it without I see it first since €90 (aprrox 140$) is a bit too much to buy without know if he will fit in it..
So we're currently still looking for a shop were we can try it.. but if any of you know someone that has it, could you please tell me what you/they think about it?

I had one very similar when my first was a puppy- i used it to bring her back and forth to work and as a crate while we were there. Mine was rather small and an adult Cavalier would not be able to lay down in it. However, if you think yours would be content to sit up and look out the top, you may want to try it. You could also put it on backwards so you could control him/ her from jumping out. That would be my main worry.

I would assume you could order it, try it at home, and return it if you didn't think it would work for you. Just leave the tags on! And check their return policy b-4 you buy.

about him jumping out.. I'm not worried about that at all!

Qwick is such a calm dog.. he doesn't protest with stuff like that and it also comes with a thing to hook them up so they can't get out..

Not sure if he needs to lay down though.. it's just for in between when I see that his knee is bothering him (cause he won't bother about it), that I can put him in there for a bit so he that knee can get some rest.. then after 30 mins or so, he can get out again to go play with the others..

It's a good think I can see when he's starting to get tired cause yeah well if it was up to qwicky he would just overdo it cause I'm sure he wouldn't want to be the "softie" in the group

So I guess it's up to me then to watch out for him

Its more money than then other one but you can always email them and ask for the size of the inside. then measure it out on some paper, that way you will get some ideal of the room inside.

So that's why I'd rather have a backpack

I've used a shoulder bag carrier from Sherpa when Jaspar was small. The issue with these backpacks is the weight of the dog -- the one you have posted only holds a dog up to 15lbs which is very small -- about 6.5kg maximum-- which is a small cavalier.

These are far sturdier, would be much better for your back, and hold dogs up to 23lbs but cost a lot more!

We went to a shop that ordered it for us on Friday and we were so happy that it fit him.. so we got him the Roll Along Pet Carrier and now we're all ready to go on the walk next Sunday :rah:
