• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). As long as you recall your old login name, you can log in with that user name then select 'forgot password' and the board will email you at your registration email, to let you reset your password.

Hi,

Bobby had an accident on the carpet yesterday and the smell of urine is pretty awful. I've cleaned the carpet with carpet cleaner however it still smells really strong. Any ideas?
 
Carpet cleaner will not work and the threads can be permanently damaged. You need to use enzymatic cleaners (most pet shops will carry these, I have used Johnsons and Four Pets in Ireland) though you can also use a weak solution of BIOLOGICAL washing powder, or vinegar and water. Wet the whole area completely, blot, and let dry then vacuum. If you don;t use an enzymatic cleaner/process, the smell and damaging chemicals remain in the carpet and destroy the fibres and will draw your dog back to wet that area again.
