I want that dog!!!!! How stunning. She's some kind of cross isn't she? Is she all black? Beautiful.
30th September 2008, 07:23 PM
she is beautiful!!!
30th September 2008, 07:47 PM
Great that she is out. I would guess she is certainly a cavalier cross -- looks like pug (pugalier)or pekingese or something like that. Maybe a pug cavalier cross given the black colour and her face, which definitely isn't quite cavalier -- although most pugaliers just look like pugs with longer faces but presumably some end up with the cavalier coat and puggish face... ?
That dog on the left is a pugalier believe it or not so it could be a black pugalier if the pug was all black.
The one of the right is a beagalier, a butt-ugly designer cross if I ever saw one. Who would PAY for that cross? :sl*p:
Oops I am wrong, I think the butt ugly one ('tan') is the pugalier. :yikes
30th September 2008, 08:00 PM
Looks like a pekalier, going by these puppies:
30th September 2008, 08:00 PM
I googled " black peke " and images and darn if she doesn't look like one of the black pekes too, LOL. Her new caretaker has ordered a DNA kit:) She is one little doll
30th September 2008, 08:27 PM
The DNA kits aren't very accurate though, regardless of how they advertise their ability to define crosses.
She actually could well be a peke from one of the puppy mills -- nose a bit too long for breed standard but I recall a rescue peke that looked EXACTLY like a short nosed blenheim; there were a lot of images posted a few years back as the dog came into rescue and needed medical care and at first lots of folks thought it was a cavalier.
There are black tibetan spaniels too -- so maybe a tibetan cross as well.
Also cocker/peke crosses:
Whatever she is she is a lovely dog; glad she is safe.
30th September 2008, 08:44 PM
Oh my, she definitely has the look in her eyes of the Pekaliers-wow
30th September 2008, 08:55 PM
Brilliant news, I'm pleased she's safe
She's a little beauty

I don't get the whole "designer" breed thing. Most of the dogs come out looking weird. Honestly, aside for the shedding, I don't see a see a single reason why anyone would prefer a cavalier-cross to a full cavalier. They have the ideal temperment and are stunningly beautiful. And from what I hear, designer crosses are often plaqued with health issues.
Edited to add - That little guy is a really cutie though. But looks more Pek to me than Cavalier

So glad she is safe..the little darling.

Yeah I'd vote for a peke-alier being the mix:
That ad on the site is so typical of how the 'designer' breeders deceive people though. Everything from referring to this as a 'hybrid BREED" (no such thing) to noting parents are 'registered' and the puppies are 'CKC" -- meaning everything is on a trash registry that I could register my cats to as 'cataliers' if I wanted. Utterly meaningless drivel.
If you are going to breed crosses, then at least just do what you do and don't try to pretend it is ethically superior or -- worse -- 'recognised' and that your breeding stock is from good registries (even if they start as, say, AKC that registration is meaningless once you are breeding crosses).
1st October 2008, 03:26 PM
Is that picture not identical to Jujubee aka Ava? at least stayed in the breed for rescue LOL. Like a hybrid is "the best of both" as if they had special knowledge of the genetics-easy enough to be the "worst of both" ah, the optimism of the smell of money.
Had to add this on Miss Ava Reese ( aka Jujubee) is having a photoshoot today :-) sometimes when it gets good it gets fantastic!
1st October 2008, 03:42 PM
Oh we are so glad to see her safe. My kids and I wanted to rescue Miss Jujubee(Ava). Her face is just heart melting. Thank you for the update.:l*v:

8th October 2008, 06:10 PM
Without cross posting, an update. She is wrapped in love and according to the Vet a year at the most. She wants to play all the time LOL and has to be crated to give the others a rest. She's still en route re: potty training but improving and she's only been there about a week. She's doing all the puppy things-may be missed her young childhood or she's still quite a puppy. Anyway, she is a great failed foster adoption :rah:
9th October 2008, 12:37 AM
That is the most wonderful news for this adorable little girl, wonder if there is some Charlie blood in her?
