Hello!
I figured I might give this a try, I am looking to adopt an adult rescue King Charles Cavalier Spaniel dog. I like in the panhandle of Florida, and would very much prefer to rescue than buy. Thank you for your time and help in locating our next family member!

That's so great! Have you looked at Lucky Star's website? Here's the link: http://www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org/page.php?name=Rescues

Most of the listings here are crossposts, not dogs posted by the rescues themselves. Your best approach is to use the contacts posted at the top of this forum -- as noted for Lucky Star, for Petfinder and breed rescue in your area. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help! I've been looking on Petfinder.com for awhile now without much luck, thanks for the advice! :]

Try www.cavalierrescueusa.org (http://www.cavalierrescueusa.org), too. These are mostly owner surrenders, so are often less of a challenge than the puppy mill rescues that Lucky Star specializes in. So it depends on what you want, what you can handle, your home situation, and what your objectives are.

I have fostered for both Lucky Star and Cavalier Rescue, and both are wonderful organizations.

Good luck on your search! And thank you for considering a rescue dog!! From watching the sites, it seems like there are lots of dogs needing homes right now, so you may have good timing!

I keep showing my husband pictures of Baby Bella on Cavalier Rescue (Midwest region), but so far he hasn't taken the hint! I think she's got a beautiful face! The two boys wanting to be adopted together are gorgeous, too.

Also, you can apply at the Mid-Florida Cavalier Club. You would probably need to travel to pick one up as most are located in the central/ south FL areas strictly in foster homes.

They are becoming increasingly active with rescue, but have a limited # of dogs coming through. Most are owner-surrenders and not mill dogs.

Baby Bella had a lot of applicants. I believe she is headed to her forever home this weekend. Everyone fell in love with her face and then her story.

I'm not surprised that she was very popular -- what a cutie! Sweetest face ever! I hope she has found a wonderful home.
