puppy fear?

Hello. I was reading in my phamplet today about puppy fear between 4-6 months of age which my pup falls into. It didn't explain much & I was hoping someone could elaborate a little more on the matter. My pup has pretty much no fear. Also, this may sound dumb but I'm new to this, is the term "bitch" only used for a female dog when you are breeding her, or it used just as you would say "my female dog". I have to say I'd feel kinda funny call her a bitch lol. Thanks

I think it means.Make sure all the pups new experiences are GOOD and POSITIVE.Make sure she doesnt have scarey things happen.ie.meeting new dogs, people and kids. All of these can be scarey at that age.

Socialisation of puppies.......

My personal view is this.

Introduce puppies to as many people and noises as you can, as early as possible. Even before they are 8 weeks old, I let friends and visitors cuddle mine (provided they wash their hands of course) and thus get them used to the human touch.

After their injections I take them out first of all in my arms and then later on a lead. They go to busy and noisy places but always under strict supervision so that they are secure in my or anothers presence.

This without doubt builds confidence and they fly the nest being bold and brave.

Also, I put puppies in a cage and place them near to the TV so that they experience all manner of programme sound effects. Including bad language !

Just some ideas but it works for me and I have never had scared little pups.
