'small miracles hang on the collar of a dog'

Oliver does his Pets as Therapy visiting at a home for people with dementia, and can get through to some of the residents in a way that humans can't. The staff are thrilled when someone who has been depressed and silent all morning breaks into a beaming smile at the sight of Oliver, and people who now hardly recognise their own families will tell me about the dogs they had as children. I think most people's memories of dogs are happy ones, so it is a safe and comfortable topic to remember.

Cavaliers make great PAT visitors, and you receive far more than you give.

Mine visit a Residential Home, one old lady in particular is very difficult and will hardly talk to anyone. When she saw Molly, she called out the name of her dog from many years ago "Geraldine", the lady was crying with happiness :)
Thank you Karlin for sharing this story, it is beautiful.

We find all our pet therapy visits so rewarding. A few weeks back we got to visit an elementary school. That was a nice change of pace for us.
