23rd March 2010, 09:18 AM
Kaley has come in from a home and is currently being fostered in Scotland. She has just come in so is not yet ready for rehoming. More news as we assess her. I'm sure Eileen (Fifer) will keep you all updated as well.
Here's some pics just to whet your appetite.

A very settled night once she managed to get her own way and settled comfortably on the bottom of my bed!! :jmp2:

Due to the fact she had a very, very late and energetic game of football around the lounge it was around midnight before I could persuade her to finish and we headed upstairs!! ;) No doubt I will be half asleep all of today!

She has been out twice this morning our usual, 6 am then again at 8.30am, "investigating" every neuk and cranny of the garden, her wee tail going crazy. A very happy, affectionate and contented little girl who will make a fabulous (if very active;)) companion for someone who can give her the attention and exercise she deserves.

She needs grooming and that will be done slowly bit by bit this week, along with assessment of how she gets on with the mad cockers!

Kaley's ears were quite badly matted and she didn't like the brush or comb, I don't think she appreciated the very light clipper treatment was for her own good!:D;)

Yes I know what you mean! :grnyuk:

Just a small update on Kaley today.

Yesterday I decided that Kaley & I needed to have a day off from grooming; our intention to visit a cavalier and it's owner failed as they were out when I arrived a little earlier than anticipated and I was pushed for time.

However we did have time to visit a wocker and Kaley was a very polite if slightly pushy guest (inviting herself to explore the upstairs too!), they got on really well and had a walk in the park together. I am seeing less of the grumpiness with other dogs as she also behaved impeccably with my 4 today. I presume that most was down to the matted ears and generally feeling uncomfortable.

If you are in Oban you and Kaley can meet our new cav girl and our geriatric cav boy:)

There's interest! :D

I so hope this little girl gets the wonderful home she deserves.
It sounds as if she could not be in better hands while she waits for her own special owner to arrive.

Pics as promised

Not what the purists would do maybe, but apart from her ears and backside I have managed to keep most of her feathering on tail, legs and underneath.

and yes she definitely has a waist!

She's gorgeous:luv:

29th March 2010, 12:16 PM
That's not a bad haircut actually. I'm the first to say I hate to see a Cavalier trimmed but you have to do what's required to make her comfortable. I hope she loses that weight poor girl.

2nd April 2010, 07:03 AM

Just wanted to come on and introduce ourselves - we're Kaley's new family. There's my hubby , 11 year old daughter and myself. We had the privilege of sharing 8 years with our darling rescue Cavalier Sonny who we tragically lost to MHD. ( Totally devastating)

We are delighted to be welcoming another rescue Cav into our lives and from talking to Eileen she seems a real character and we think she's going to have lots of fun in her forever home with us.

We'll be letting Eileen know how she's settling in but we promise to keep you up to date on here and will post a few photos as well. Eileen sent me the link to the site yesterday so we've only just registered.

We're heading off early to collect Kaley as we have a bit of a journey and also as we're all desperate to see her. Wish us luck!!

Hi Carol & family + Kaley. Its lovely to hear from her forever family :)

2nd April 2010, 09:16 PM
Hi everyone,

Thank you for the lovely welcome. Kaley travelled down well in the car and I think we have exhausted her as we went to the park a few times and she's dozing spark out on the sofa.
She is such a little darling and I get the feeling we've lots of fun times ahead. She has me wrapped around her little finger. I can't thank Eileen and Chris enough for housing her with us.

This is such a lovely ending it's made me cry,she is beautiful and a very lucky girl to find a wonderful home:) looking forward to more pics of her.

Thanks for the kind words. We were so blessed with Sonny and always felt he chose us as opposed to us choosing him. We have so many happy memories and it will be the same with Kaley. The circumstances for us getting her seem like fate. Our 11 year old daughter is convinced Sonny sent her to us to dry our tears and give someone else a home.

She has settled so well here ,it's incredible. There's been so much laughter in our house since she arrived and we know Sonny would have loved her as much as we do already :-)

Ok so now you've set me off again!!! so happy for you and Kaley

3rd April 2010, 06:11 PM
Just back from the local park...again...and she is defo a pack animal. She was allowed off lead in an enclosed area and only once did she wander off. Other times, a quick, forceful 'Kaley' and she'd bound back towards the 3 of us then choose the softest touch out of us all - the wife! She has bonded incredibly well with her and it is a joy to see her happier than she has been (the wife that is!)

The dog'll have to go!:dogwlk:cavtiny

Here's a few photos of Kaley settling into her forever home. She is such a cutie who loves a game of footie with her own wee ball and she's been having heaps of fun with the family.

Se has made herself at home and we're all having lots of fun. Hope you enjoy them :-)

I have just read about your beloved Sonny , What a lovely boy and your story really touched me and how Kaley has come into your life shows it was just meant to be , as if she was sent to you by Sonny himself . i hope you all have much love and fun together and Kaley is absolutely gorgeous .

7th April 2010, 07:17 PM
I never thought I would get another dog after Sonny. Although he was on Vetmedin and Lasix for his MHD and our vet was always honest how it eventually end, having to have him PTS hit me like a ton of bricks and broke my heart. I'm sure there are others of you have had to go thro' similar yourselves. I still grieve for Sonny and have some of his ashes in a gold heart locket which i wear around my neck so I feel he is close to me always. Hubby and daughter felt we should think about a wee dog some time in the future. Paul only put out the feelers on a rescue website offering a loving home to a small dog and TBH thought nothing more of it until an email arrived with a photo of Kaley and explaining she was being rehomed soon.

Call me an old hippy:-) but I really feel she was meant for us. The fact she has settled so well makes me feel it was meant to be! Twice we wanted to rehome a dog and twice it's been a Cav. They are just such wonderful dogs, such loving and faithful companions.

Glad to see her losing that excess weight and her teeth look so much cleaner too! Dental shouldn't be so bad with less plaque to remove.:luv:

You're still doing wonderfully well for Kaley and she just looks SOoooo happy. What a grrrreat part of the world you live in. Kaley must have thought it was Birthday and Christmas rolled into one when she went to live with you and your family.
