Cavaliers did well in the obedience classes at yesterday's UK Toydog Championship show: 5th in Beginners, Ist in Novice, 1st, 3rd and 5th in Class A, and 1st and 2nd in Class B (there were only the two of us in that class!). My Oliver managed to win B (with a horrendous score!) - he's really retired from competing, but doing the fun things in A and B is a treat for him! Tracey Smith's Taybar Jemima, who won both Novice and A, is a great little worker.

Some of the obedience competitors (some of whom also win in breed on the day) always give a demonstration in the main ring just before the BIS judging. Yesterday we had a Papillon, two Bichons, a Pug, a Min Pin and a Cavalier doing heel work on and off lead, recall, retrieve, scent, sendaway and stays - a great advertisement for letting small dogs use their brains and enjoy themselves.

Kate, Oliver and Aled (who did a training round at his first ever show, and survived a very noisy ring and being separated from Oliver, so I was pleased with him)

Well done Oliver. :pi*no:

I take Molly and Dougall once per week to obedience and socialisation class, they are nowhere near your level but they have a great time and as you say they can use their brain and enjoy the mental stimulation. They won a gold plastic medal in musical chairs two weeks ago!

What a great day :D

It's fantastic to hear of Cavaliers doing so well at obedience - they just love to please, so usually really enjoy obedience.

It's great that they have an obedience demonstration in the main ring.

Congratulations. It's great seeing small dogs having the oportunity to shine at the clever stuff, isn't it. Well done to Oliver, and definitely well done to Aled for his training round.

Well done to Oliver and Aled - SuperCavs!!

Always good to hear of any Cavaliers doing well in Obedience or Agility classes - they are real ambassadors for the breed and for small dogs in general.
