View Full Version : 10-year old charlie in suffolk needs a good home

25th May 2010, 09:37 PM
This good-natured gem of a dog called Charlie came into rescue when his owner unfortunately had to go into a care home. He is housetrained, vaccinated, neutered and a most affable fellow with human and canine companions- preferably both together! This gregarious, waggy cuddle monster just loves company - children included, so ideally his new home would have someone around for most of the time or another dog to be his pal until they come home. He's been as good as gold while his fosterer has been at work for a few hours, hanging out with her resident dog Alfie. Out and about , he walks nicely both on and off the lead and travels well in the car - simply lies down and enjoys the ride. So easy to please and a joy to have around. His only downfall is that he chases cats, so a cat free home would be advisable.

This handsome boy is ten years old - but no-one has told him that! He also has a grade 4/5 heart murmur but no-one has told him that either, and his vet also feels that he does not need any medication as he is such an active and happy dog with energy that truly belies his age - he'll be ready to go on a long trek with you or play games indoors, no problem.

He's the double of Kaley Eileen! If he's as great as Kaley ( which I'm sure he is!:-) ) he'll make someone a fantastic wee companion. He looks really lively for his age and would suit any family. Let's hope he gets some interest soon!!

Charlie has been with us almost a month now so I thought it would be a good time to update you all on his progress.
Charlie has now totally settled in and has become one of the family. We couldn't have wished for a more affectionate and well behaved dog. His favourite place is sitting on my lap and somehow he has learnt a new trick. When he is on my lap, if I tell him I love him he climbs up on me, puts his paws on both my shoulders and licks my face to within an inch of my life all the time his tail is wagging non stop!!
All he want's is fuss and is very demanding with it. Quite often he will come up to me and headbutt my arm till I acknowledge him. Also if I get up off my seat he has claimed in within seconds and looks at me all innocently.
His best mate is our 6 month old puppy Herbie. They will play fight for ages and the noise Charlie makes while playing is hilarious!! He sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars as he's chasing Herbie around the garden.
We took him to our vets for a check up and our vet has put him on Fortekor for his murmur and he is responding to it brilliantly. His coughing has reduced and his coat has improved greatly. Other than that the vet says he is in great shape.
We couldn't be happier with him and are so happy we were able to adopt him.

Great to hear Charlie has settled in well with your family. :*nana: He sounds a fantastic wee guy and is so lucky to find such a loving family. Please post some piccies for us. Rescue dogs ( especially Cavaliers) make such wonderful companions.

Hope you have lots of fun times together.
