On the way to hospital. In shock covered in blood. I was picking up kennedy ellas boyfriend and another lab was there. Ella went to kiss the lab or sniff her face, I don't know. The lab snapped and bit her face and eye. Emergency hospital got her stabilized & on the way to hospital where neuro is. They do have to remove her eye. Like ella needed anything else. Most loving dog. Everyone in tears and I'm in shock but as long as she makes it. Funny I did not care about her with one eye. I care about her pain and as long as she will make it. I have accepted her hardships with sm. Its not fair that a dog filled with love. I'm sorry just pray for her please

Oh dear, I am so sorry to read this, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and my fingers crossed that she will be ok. The poor little thing, and poor you too, have you anyone who can be with you for support right now? Everyone reading this thread will be supporting you in spirit anyway, you can be sure of that. :flwr::flwr:

I had several people go to the emergency hospital. I'm looking at the blood on my hands as I type. I have a great friend who calms me. He has been with ella since a puppy. I told the others to go home because I need to try to remain calm. I would not be able to drive. Why? Now I'm crying. An angel who is so giving. I can't bear to know she has to deal with more pain

OH MY GOD! I'm so so sorry for you guys!!! We'll definitely keep you all in our prayers. You must have been so very scared, and so shaken. All of us are crossing everything for you.

I understand how upset you are. It's just not fair!!! Such a sweet doggie with problems doesn't need any more... but you know she'll be a-ok, she has you and many friends to help her through this all.

My Bobby got attacked by a dog from across the street. Bobby just looked at him and the dog latched onto his back leg, this was an old english sheepdog, luckily there was no blood or injury, but it was so traumatic. It's not fair that some dogs are not trained and live in fear and when another dog even looks at them or sniffs them they can just 'snap'. Oh Annie, my heart goes out to you. Keep us in the know about everything.:hug:

My friend's gorgeous blenheim lost his eye in an unprovoked attack by a german shepherd mix and once the fur grew back in he was just as gorgeous as always. The wonderful thing about dogs is that they don't hold grudges. Ella will come out of this and be - well, Ella! Your sweet, loveable Ella. I cna't imagine what you are going through. At least you had someone to drive you and stay with you. And now you have all of us at CT staying with you in our thoughts and in our prayers. Hugs to you and Ella.

Fingers and toes all crossed here for a full recovery, even if it means losing an eye.

OH NO I just can't believe this - I'm so so sorry Anne, poor wee beautiful Ella. This is so unfair, she and you have enough to deal with :(:(:(

It's good that you have someone with you, and that you are going to a specialist, that gives Ella the best possible chance of healing well.

She will still be just as beautiful with one eye - and they cope amazingly well, given a little time to adjust.

We will keep you both in our thoughts, sending comforting and healing thoughts and our love.

Take care xx

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Ella is going to be fine eye or not. Just shocking to see that. She is in surgery and I might be able to take her home tonight. She does have a lot but they say, they get adjusted quick and after a couple of days of tender care, the pain from that will be better. She is a special dog.

Thank you all for your support:hug: ella is home with me. She slept through the night and ate this morning. She is going to be okay thank goodness! They were able to put the eye back in but might need to remove. We will see but even with one eye she will be fine. When she got home she waggeed her tail:wggle::thmbsup:

Thank you for your prayers. The lab is old and I think something might be going on health wise. Everyone is so angry at the lab but my heart goes to him too. I know when my parents lab got a tumor he acted different. The vet said it could make him aggressive. He did not know what was going on. He was put to sleep. I hope the owner takes him to get checked out.

So pleased that Ella is ok and back home with you.

It does make you wonder about the Lab - it's unusual for them unless there is an underlying cause.

Anne, I just saw this thread. I am just shocked and so sad about what happened to sweet Ella. When Jack was 6 months old he was bit by a dog and I remember rushing to the ER with blood all over me and him, it is truly a horrifying experience. I remember not being able to think clearly and basicallly just being an emotional mess.
I am glad you had a friend with you to help you through the ordeal.
You two have been through so much. Again I am so sorry.
Glad to hear she is now home with you and doing better. I will continue to send positive and healing thoughts your way. Please do keep us updated on your baby.
Lots of hugs to you both,
Irene

I am new here but I just wanted to send my prayers out the Ella. It hurts so bad to see your baby hurting. We just had a puppy cavalier come in where I worked a few weeks ago. The same thing happened to this poor guy at 15 weeks old. He went up to greet a dog and it snapped at him and must of hit him just right in the face.

We did end up having to remove his eye because the damage was so bad. He is doing just fine though.

I know it is hard not to be mad at the older dog, but he doesn't have any idea anymore what he did that everyone is mad at him for.

Like others have said, I just now saw this and was horrified at what happened to Ella! You are very kind not to have hard feelings toward that Lab. I don't think I would be as kind-spirited.

I hope she gets to keep her eye and heals quickly! God bless you both!

Anne,

Just read your post, brought me to tears my heart aches for you, I understand when life brings us the unexpected and we question why, I get that, I have asked the same questions why Lord does Isabelle have to have sm she is so Innocent and such a sweet dog, I even went as to pray that God would give me her pain instead, so that she could just go on to be the happy loving dog that she is. But then I am reminded that although she has been diagnosed with it, she still manages to be the most faithful loving dog and sometimes Isabelle just goes through life with what she is dealt with and still surprises to amaze me with such unconditional love and joy. It brings me to my knees knowing that life is not perfect but Gods love for us is, and no matter what we may go through, his promises remain the same. I will pray for you and sweet Ella, she was just doing what any loving dog would do. May the road get lighter for you and the burdens you face become erased. Take care!

Blessings,
Pamela

Just seeing your posts about Ella. I'm so sorry that you and she had to go though this awful experience.

Having had a lab years ago, I agree that either illness, poor genetics or an uncaring owner caused that lab to hurt Ella.

So glad that she is recuperating and hopefully is adjusting.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, concerns and thoughts! It is amazing that throughout everything she is still so much a lover. They kept the eye in but it still may need to be removed. I look at her one eye and I still see the same beautiful girl, so it does not matter as long as she continues to have the same spirit.

I see what she endures and still continues to have such a great heart. She is truly amazing.
