There's a short but useful article by Simon Swift on the Cavalier Club website entitled 'A Guide to the Significance of Heart Murmurs in Cavaliers'. Go to the home page (www.thecavalierclub.co.uk) (http://www.thecavalierclub.co.uk)) and click on the flier for the article.

MVD INFORMATION
.
Kate ,

Just read this Information, it really shows how important it is to have Cavalier Breeding Stock Health Tested for Heart Murmurs.

This also shows how Important it is for Cavalier Breeders to be following the Breeding Guideline Recommendations, and to know the Heart Status of the Grand-Parents of Cavaliers at 5 years of Age.

Since Cavalier MVD Carriers mated to Cavalier MVD Carriers, and there is the possibility that this is what could be wrong with the Cavalier Breed now, since there is no Guarantee that Long Lived Cavaliers are not Carriers of the MVD Genes, means that in a Cavalier Litter of 3 Cavalier Puppies,

One Cavalier will be Clear of the MVD Gene.

One will be a Carrier and will pass on the MVD Gene to Off--Springs.

One Cavalier will be Affected by MVD.
