I would like a good book about cavalier king Charles spaniels. I want one mainly on the history, crufts, champions, toy spaniels and how they evolved.

Anything with good pictures and not one of the general books with raising a puppy, behavior, etc. Just a great history book or any suggestion.

Thanks!

This book is more of a light read, I finished it in two days. Lots of laughs. But not a book on the histroy of the breed...

The second book is I think the single best book out there on cavaliers -- a real treat, beautiful pictures and full of good info. It has a companion book that traces the history of the breed (and it's early forerunners) in art. The two of them can be put into a special slip cover– if ordered directly from the author's website (http://www.laughingcavaliers.com/).

I just love looking at these two books. :D

Sorry, this book has nothing to do with the "history" of the breed but I like this book a lot. It has a Cavalier in it. Just thought I would point it out if you like to read.

Read Life with George and the book about her fostering for Many Tears after someone here recommended. Easily read but a bit too much about her life and not enough George for my liking :) Was frustrated with her in the fostering book as she just let the dogs run amok; I know the books were written for entertainment but, in my opinion, it's the fosterers job to help a dog adjust to living in a home and she just didn't put the work in. They're DOGS not animate teddy bears or human babies with fur and as such have dog needs. I know, I know.... chill :lpy:

This is a book I would recommend, although don't pay $102, buy a good second hand copy.
It is written for the aspiring exhibitor/breeder rather than the pet owner, but it is very readable.

Some of the advice may be a little out-dated, as it was written in 1983, but it has good chapters on the history & evolution of Cavaliers, and in a chapter called "Random thoughts on living with a Cavalier" there is some wise words for pet owners and a little discussion on the sidelines Cavalier enthusiasts can follow........collecting postcards, staffordshire models, mosaic brooches ( I've got them all )

This book occasionally shows up on eBay, there are a couple on the UK site for just a couple of pounds.
