My 4.5 month old pup is onto her second urine infection in a month and I was wondering if this is a common problem in Cavaliers.
She had a urine analysis to confirm the first one was indeed an infection and two weeks of liquid antibiotics (clavulin, I think) and then another urine test to confirm it was gone (it was) and only a week later she has the same symptoms (frequent small pees, tiny bits of blood in her pee, etc.). We're taking in more urine tomorrow for another analysis. Also, she has epilepsy (unsure still if it's juvenile or standard epilepsy - or really epilepsy at all, although SM, CM, other neuro disorders, liver shunts, etc. have all been ruled out with an MRI and extensive testing), but it's very well controlled so far by very small doses of Phenobarbital.
My vet doesn't seem to think it could be caused by the medicine since her pheno levels are so low. I suppose I just want to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. Or if anyone knows what else could be causing these infections.
Thanks!
