• If you're a past member of the board, but can't recall your password any more, you don't need to set up a new account (unless you wish to). Guinness had a terrible weekend, he snagged his dew claw Saturday afternoon. It's been at a terrible angle all weekend, and he's been really tough about it. We're at the vet now, and they just took him away so they could remove it. I feel terrible for him, I don't think I could be as brave as he is.
 
Be warned - even when removed the spot can stay tender for a long time. I hate dew claws, they can get caught so easily and bleed terribly, especially if your dog is adventurous and clambers through rough terrain.

I forgot to ask the vet, should I be expecting this claw to grow back, or did they likely pull the whole thing?
 
I would think they will remove the whole thing - it 's just attached to the bone by quite soft tissue and they simply pull back the skin and snip it off. It won't grow back.
