Hi toby my rescue dog yesterday got a lump on the back of his neck ? i took him to the vet he thinks that it could be where he had to have injections for conjunctivitus but that was a month ago . any ideas my little man has dry eyes , but got fantastic drops from my vet who is an eye specialist. also heart murmur , we only have had him 12 months and he was a breeding dog, even now he is still frightened of every thing. but we are getting there he loves his toys and blanket.:D:D:D i love my toby xx

When Leo had his jabs last year he developed a lump on the back of his neck. I was really worried and thought the worse.
Luckily it was fine and took a little while but eventually went down. It didnt bother him at all.
We worry because we love them :l*v:

When Jasper had his booster in his neck it would go to the size of a golf ball I ask for them to put injections lower down now, its only over a few days though not a month like Toby. Gabby as a lump on her chest she as had it a while now and a new one as developed on her thigh vet says it probably a cyst below the skin, we are keeping a close eye on her for changes.
Bless Toby so glad he as a loving home now with you, he sounds like he as settled brilliantly with you :)

I know sometimes when kids get their shots this happens, a red warm lump but it lasts a day or so. A month seems weird to me. Does it bother him when you touch it? Could it have been there longer and you didn't notice? How long does your vet say it "should" last? If it does bother him or is there in a week or so I personally would seek another opinion. To me its one of those better be safe than sorry things.
Keep up the good work with him!!!! He needs the love.

From what our Vet has told us in the past ..sometimes antibiotic injections ( especially penicillin) do not absorb well in dogs. It may just be a reaction to that & take several weeks for the lump to actually go away.
I wonder if maybe your Vet could do a needle aspiration to see if there is some sort of infection going on around the injection site? Does it hurt Toby for you to touch that area?
It's wonderful that you have rescued him & want to give him the loving home he deserves.
I too pray he starts to relax and warm up to things very soon ! Bless you *

It could even be from a tick that has dropped off.
