Hello!

Hi all - I recently got my first Cavalier about 4 months ago. She is a tricolor and her name is Jane and she was born February 26, 2015. Since they day I brought her home, my life was forever changed, I'm totally obsessed with my new little buddy. We enjoy obedience classes together, and she is doing very well. Jane is my first dog as an adult, but I grew up in a home of golden retrievers. I've been told Cavaliers are a bit like a "golden in a small body." I thought I would join this board to get some cavalier-specific advice since no one in my family has had one. Thanks!

Sounds like you are doing great. Obedience/socialization classes for you and your pup are a wonderful way to bond. Cavaliers are friendly, happy dogs who like to spend time with people. I grew up with bigger dogs as well, and the only real difference I can see with the CKC is the level of attachment (on both sides!).

Best of luck. You will find lots of useful info on this site.

Joan

Ps- I have a tricolor CKC too. He's a sweetheart!

icon_welcome Yes, I've heard that quite a few times over the years, that cavaliers are like goldens in a smaller form factor! :p

Glad you are enjoying your new friend and investing time in obedience classes at this age is a fantastic and rewarding thing to do for you both. Excellent to socialise them and have them learn in a group environment! Many here have done agility and other competitive activities with their cavaliers, too :D

Thanks for the advice! I would gradually like to work up to doing nosework, because I think she might have potential for it :p Maybe all dogs can do this, but the minute we get out of the elevator at my apartment building, or even if we stay in a hotel, she can take me directly to my room hehe. Have any of you done nosework?
