awwwwww..... cutey wootey little baby waybies.....

I had better get another puppy soon before I start wanting a human baby!! :O

15th December 2005, 04:43 PM
Yes all are doing well. We had one little guy that was born with a birth defect and we are watching him carefully. He is the strongest and most agressive of the group. So we are going to try to work things out with him and we already have someone who wants him if all turns out well.
Puzzles is a great mom and she did a very good job having her puppies. I was nervous with the first two then I was calmer. Surprized to see a 5th and the 6th was almost born in the car because we were on our way to the vet for a check up on the babies and mom. I took her outside after her 5th, she went potty. I fed her, and got ready to put her in the crate and she jumped back into the whelping box and had #6. So amazing! I am grateful. Here is a picture of the little ones today.

15th December 2005, 04:49 PM
That's a lovely photo of a loving mom and her pups! Congratulations. What is the birth defect on the one??

15th December 2005, 05:37 PM
That last pic is SO SWEET! Gorgeous! If love had form, that's what it would look like.

Are you sure iit wouldn't look like my Rory?? :)

Puppy # 5 was born with no tail and no visible sex organs. Vet looked at him under a microscope and beleived he had both areas to eliminate waste from but wasn't totally sure. But to watch him and see if he does. He thinks that he was supposed to be a boy but everything didn't quite close up and form completely. I have been able to get him to go #1 but not from where he is supposed to. (Maybe it's a girl?) I haven't been able to get him to do #2, which worries me. I don't want to loose a pup. We are going to the vet in the morning for a check up.

16th December 2005, 07:39 AM
ah that is stressfull, but fingers crossed for you that all will be ok.

last year one of my pups was born dead, and i was worried i had done something wrong, but i had the vet on the phone talking me through reviving it, but it turned out it had died maybe up to a week ago.

that was puppy number 4, and this time around puppy number 4 also had trouble as the sack burst while the pup was still inside the Mam, so i had to help her, its hard to get a grip on slippery pups!

howevr this time arouns all worked out well and this pup is one of the strongest!

Also Bruce i see had trouble with Pup 4, does any one know why this is or am i just seeing coinsodences?

Here is a picture of our little one, Sammy. I am praying for him everyday. He is still not gaining any weight. We started tube feedings today. Hopefully things will take a turn for the better. He is so sweet but so tiny...

Thinking of you, he does indeed look so small.... fingers and toes crossed for him. XXX

Purely cooincidence, based on my experience. The puppies we have had trouble with over the years have been all over the map with respect to birth order.

17th December 2005, 03:12 PM
gorgeous puppies..good luck with them

17th December 2005, 09:39 PM
Oh such little darlings. Positive thoughts and wishes for the tiny, poorly one xx

Here is a pictures of the puppies today. Growing so fast. It will be a load of fun when they are up and running around, I can't wait!

19th December 2005, 03:12 AM
Very cute!!! How is the "special" boy?

19th December 2005, 05:18 AM
Our little Sammy lost his battle Saturday night. We all took it very hard, my son probably the worst. But we have 5 healthy puppies that we need to tend to so we are trying to focus on that for now. They are so sweet and gaining weight like you wouldn't beleive.

19th December 2005, 08:30 AM
ah sorry to hear your new..... but as you say you have 5 darlings to bring u joy.

19th December 2005, 12:18 PM
Oh no, so sorry to hear about little Sammy  Five survivors is something to be thankful for though. They are such darlings and those little paws make me so broody for another :)

19th December 2005, 12:28 PM
It is unbelievably hard to loose one. My thoughts are with you. Enjoy the pups that are with you.

19th December 2005, 01:23 PM
Sorry to hear about the little one..... hope all others are okay.

Poor little Sammy, but he fought the good fight, it wasn't meant to be.

Just love their little feeties!

19th December 2005, 03:23 PM
God Bless little Sammy, I am so sorry, as hard as it was it was probably
for the best. It must of been very difficult for your son, children have
a hard time understanding death whether it be human or animals.

The other 5 are so sweet, congratulations.

19th December 2005, 03:56 PM
Sorry to hear about sweet Sammy. Poor little guy would have had many obstacles ahead, so thankfully his suffering was kept to a minimum. But he got to know the loving touch of both his human and dog families and I'm sure he went with a happy heart.

The 5 babies are just adorable, little pink noses and bellies and feet.

19th December 2005, 05:22 PM
Oh, I'm so sorry!!! It must be so hard to lose one, even having known him only a few days. :( And to feel so helpless about it, too.

cherish the other 5 and keep us updated w/ pics as they grow! :)

So very sorry about the loss of the little guy. It's hard enough to have one born dead like I had, but it's really hard when you loose one after it's been born. I've been there and I can truly sympathize with you.

Don't know how old your children are, but maybe you can use this as an opportunity to talk to them about life and death. Maybe some small good can come out of this.

As others have said, now is the time to concentrate on the healthy ones. You have 5 beautiful puppies.

19th December 2005, 08:50 PM
Puzzle's babies are gorgeous. I'm really sorry you lost Sammy. It must be really hard on your kids - I remember losing pups when my Dad bred Golden Cockers years ago and it broke our hearts. However, as Bruce says, it a good learning curve for kids. Good luck with the rest of the puppies.

19th December 2005, 10:00 PM
Thanks for all the support. My son is 8 and he took it the hardest. I told him that Sammy was very sick here on earth and that when he goes to heaven, all of his pain will go away. I told him that we won't have to worry about him hurting anymore and we can focus on his brothers and sisters. He understood it better that way. My 5 year old still don't grasp the concept, she just goes on about her buisness.
The puppies are all doing very well. Some I think are drinking a bit too much milk. They grow right before your eyes. It is so wonderful!
Their noses are starting to turn black and when they all start to crying and screaming for the milk lady, it is so cute. You can hear it across the whole house. Their lungs are getting stronger and stronger.
Thanks again for all the support...

They're adorable!!

1st January 2006, 02:32 AM
The little ones are growing like weeds! We finally have eyes! I am so excited... It seems like they are much more active now that they can see eachother. I went to check on them today and one little on made her way out of the whelping box! I am not sure if she crawled out or was drug out but we decided to upgrade them to their bigger doggy condo. It has a sleeping area, a play area and a potty area. Right now they are too small to get out of the box, (I think), so I have Puzzle's bed in the potty area for now, she likes her time away from the little tykes...
I took them all out of the box for a bit to let them crawl around and they sure made there way around. Here are some pictures I took of them tonight exploring their new crib... and finding mommies little hide away from the kids...
Here is their new puppy condo...

So cute!! And looks like a great setup they've got there! :D

1st January 2006, 11:18 AM
WOW! they are so cute but what cought my eye was how amazing your pen is, i wish i had space for such a thing, maybe in the new house i will, as im planning to buy a house with a spefic area in mind for CLoe.

Lady had her second vaccination yesterday so she can go out in one week i cant wait!

well done, it looks so comfortable for all.. XXX

Those puppies are so cute! Looks like they're really doing well.

And I love the pen. Where did you get it? We use an x-pen when the pups get older but it's somewhat limited in layout. Would your pen stay up if an adult dog put its feet at the top and leaned against it?

BTW, if you figure out how to get the puppies to go regularly to a potty area, I will pay big $ for your secret

1st January 2006, 04:18 PM
I actually bought that at Big Lot's! It was a set that came and you had to put it together to make a set of cubes that hold clothes or whatever to put in your closet. I just skipped out on the cube part and made that. I was researching on how to make a whelping box on different websites and I seen something simmlar to this made of wood. It was much smaller, made for a tiny dog. The lady had on her website that if you don't keep the potty area super clean (which I'm not sure of yet), that they will eventually know that they potty there. But keep the bedding, food, and play area very clean.
It took Puzzle's a minute to learn that she can jump out of it. It only comes to the top of her head when she is standing, but she put her paws on the side of it and it leaned out a bit but came no where close to tipping over. Plus she can walk around the house and still peek in to the pup's without having to get in there. It was 5.99$ per set of cubes and I bought 2 sets. Which was about 15$ with tax. I could go get 2 more sets and make it one more cube higher... but I thought that I would see how this goes for now.
I don't have anyother inside dogs right now to bother them so that isn't a worry for me. Maybe by the next time we have a litter, I will make it one cube higher. I am possibly getting a ruby male as my addition to our fur baby family. I have paid to be on a waiting list and the pup's are due to be born in a week and a half. I am so excited! Ruby's are SO HARD to come by and I was fortunate enough that my favorite breeder is possibly going to have one and I was very fortunate enough to get on the list as the 1st one to want a ruby male.
Thank you for all your wonderful comments! This has been such a great experience for me. I am so lucky that Puzzle's is such a great mom...

1st January 2006, 05:42 PM
I found the rubys far harder to sell then the Blenhiem, i want to breed her off a black and tan, but there is no way i can do that next year as i would just have to keep one!

Lady has a hernia which must be operated on before i breed from her.

maybe it would be best to breed teh black and tan from Ruby then Cloe. so that gives me lots more years to get organised!!!

i plan to get a utility room with an area just for teh dogs with heaters and a pen for teh babies.

your pen Jenny looks so cool, i will use it as my template in the new house!!

mind u need to find a new house first!!!!

1st January 2006, 08:08 PM
So sorry to hear about wee Sammy - hard for you all but maybe the best thing for him.

Glad to see the other pups doing so well - and I just love your set up, that's fantastic.

PUzzle is a wonderful Mum, and doing a super job with the pups.

They are sweet and hard to resist that is FOR SURE, sad to say I am puppy shopping myself as we speak. I have been on the look out for a Ruby Male for about 17 months now. Haven't found one that is just the right color, or I find someone who wants to get rid of one way too bad! They will drop the price big time, which seems like a red flag to me, and they don't have you fill out any paperwork, ask any questions or nothing. I would rather someone know me before I buy a puppy from them. I am finally on a waiting list for a possible ruby male to be born in about a week. I don't think I can't wait that long to find out!
Thanks for all your kind words about my pictures. I enjoy taking the pictures and posting them. The puppies just get sweeter and sweeter everyday.

6th January 2006, 12:49 AM
Puppies are 3 weeks old. So much fun at this age!

6th January 2006, 12:57 AM
Oh he/she is adorable.
I think everyone is having Puppy Envy.
How cute, and how fast we forget how our little ones were when we brought them home they grow up so fast.

6th January 2006, 02:48 AM
They are just the sweetest ever! We run in the front door everyday just to play with them. Even my husband that doesn't show much interest in it, climbs in the pen when he gets home and wakes everyone up and holds them. That picture above was Peter. He is very cute I think. The picture that I will post with this one is Morgan. She is a doll. My husband don't know it yet but I think that we are going to keep her. She definately is a keeper icon_whistling , just don't let my husband know... :D

6th January 2006, 11:10 AM
OH just too cute :D - I don't think you're going to be able to pry Morgan out of your daughter's arms - definitely a keeper
