  1. 4th November 2007 - Sonny & Beau work as a team

Today was Sonny’s first day at obedience, and as a team with Beau. Wow, it was fun and not at all difficult. Beau had already passed Beginner Obedience and was part way through Class One when I decided to back-track and take Sonny along too. As Sonny is 3 years old and I have been training him from home, it really was a piece of cake at obedience class today.

I took both Sonny & Beau on a double leash, but I also took a single leash along as well. I just tied that around my waist

  2. 14th October 2007 - Sonny to go to Obedience Classes too

Last week at obedience, in the distance I saw a lady training two little Maltese Terriers. This got me thinking about the possibility of taking Sonny to obedience too, and training him up along side Beau.

Today I spoke to the trainers at the dog club and they were very enthusiastic & supportive of my wish to train Sonny & Beau together. So the first Sunday in Nobember, Sonny will start Beginner's Obedience. Beau will go through again with him and I'll have to hold Beau back

  3. 26th August 2007 - Beau's Graduation from Beginners

Beau graduated from Beginners Obedience today. I was so proud of that little man. Our classes were supposed to be run for 8 weeks but due to heavy rain (the venue is held outdoors) all but 4 classes were cancelled. We rolled up today expecting that we would fail our exam and have to repeat the classes. Our challenge has always been the “stay” command and as part of the assessment we needed to complete a 40 second sit & stay, a 40 second drop & stay, and a 40 second sit & stay ...

  4. 16th August 2007 - Sam at the vets

Ohhhh! I hate it when my babies aren't home with me. My 9 y/o Sam the Boxer had to undergo surgery today for some problems in his mouth. Old Boxers are notorious for their dreadful mouths and Sam is no exception. He also is an anaesthetic risk with a reputation for being highly unstable while under. Last time he needed an anaesthetic the vets had to abandone half of what they had hoped to do because of this. So for some time now our vet has been making us aware that Sam's mouth would one day need ...

  5. 22nd July 2007 - Obedience Class Progress

Rain, rain go away! Well not really. Australia needs rain as drought is our curse. Having said that, these past 8 weeks or so has seen so much rain with an average of about 1 in 3 of our obedience classes being cancelled due to rain. So I was starting to feel rather irritated when it started bucketing down on the way to obedience today. This is an hours round trip for me, so a cancelled class at the last minute is inconvenient & annoying. As luck would have it, today we drove right through that ...
