  1. 26th August 2007 - Beau's Graduation from Beginners

Beau graduated from Beginners Obedience today. I was so proud of that little man. Our classes were supposed to be run for 8 weeks but due to heavy rain (the venue is held outdoors) all but 4 classes were cancelled. We rolled up today expecting that we would fail our exam and have to repeat the classes. Our challenge has always been the “stay” command and as part of the assessment we needed to complete a 40 second sit & stay, a 40 second drop & stay, and a 40 second sit & stay ...

  2. 16th August 2007 - Sam at the vets

Ohhhh! I hate it when my babies aren't home with me. My 9 y/o Sam the Boxer had to undergo surgery today for some problems in his mouth. Old Boxers are notorious for their dreadful mouths and Sam is no exception. He also is an anaesthetic risk with a reputation for being highly unstable while under. Last time he needed an anaesthetic the vets had to abandone half of what they had hoped to do because of this. So for some time now our vet has been making us aware that Sam's mouth would one day need ...

  3. 22nd July 2007 - Obedience Class Progress

Rain, rain go away! Well not really. Australia needs rain as drought is our curse. Having said that, these past 8 weeks or so has seen so much rain with an average of about 1 in 3 of our obedience classes being cancelled due to rain. So I was starting to feel rather irritated when it started bucketing down on the way to obedience today. This is an hours round trip for me, so a cancelled class at the last minute is inconvenient & annoying. As luck would have it, today we drove right through that ...

  4. 22nd July 2007 - BARFing Progress

It has been quite a while since I have posted any progress on the dog’s diet (BARF). They have now been on this diet for several months and I am extremely pleased with how it all has gone. The dogs love it too and Sonny who we adopted and was a fussy eater now prances around the kitchen when it is meal time.

I have a great routine now for preparing 2 weeks worth of food and this only takes me 45 minutes.

Because 60% of the meal consists of raw meaty bones, this part

  5. 1st July 2007 - Beginner Obedience

Beau started Beginner Obedience training today. For the past few months I have been taking him to baby puppy classes which is primarily focussed on socialising along with some basic obedience like sit, drop, heel and some fun baby agility, so we moved up to the serious classes today. This phase lasts 8 weeks (provided you pass) and then they can move onto Class 1, which quiet honestly at this stage I have no idea what they learn.

Our little class only consisted of 4 but the teacher
