Back Leg Woes

Hello all!

It's been a while since i did one of these because well everything has been a bit up in the air lately. But as things are calming down i thought i'd come and tell you about my little Benji baby.

Well for starters he turned 10 months old yesterday.

However, recently he's been having trouble with his back legs (mainly the back left leg). After a course of anti-inflammatory meds from the vets he seemed okay for a day or two before his left leg started playing up again. Basically he won't put his back left leg on the ground, we have to get him to sit down and then he's alright. Sometimes he'll yelp but usually he just looks at you as if to say 'what do i do?' So i've made some phone calls and found out it'll cost me £250 for him to get x-rays, thankfully my insurance covers it. It's going to take me a few weeks to get the money needed as i have to pay the first £90 & and then 10% after that meaning i'll be paying about £106 i think and then other insurance stuff, which is small fry compared to making sure my baby is okay.

Anyway, apart from that his suspected dry eye seems to have cleared up. His eyes are hardly gunky at all anymore, which is great.

I'll let you know more about the x-rays and stuff as they happen.

Until next time!
Sophie & Benji! =D
xx

Have they checked for luxating patella? he is the right age unfortunately for this to show up -- and shouldn't need an xray to diagnose. However it may nee surgery in which case it will need an xray.

My dog Toodles was 9 months old when she yelped out in pain and I rushed her to the Vet. Although they took an Xray they did not diagnose the patella problem at that time. She had surgery about a month later and the recovery took 8 weeks. She had to take it easy and could only walk on a leash. She was not allowed to jump or run in the yard. It seemed like a long time however when it was over, she was able to return to her normal self. Today she fetches balls and runs and jumps on the couch. Even the surgical site cannot be noticed.

I hope you have a good outcome for your pup too.
