Uk CKCS Club-Liaison Meeting and our Petition

Well-known member
Hi

The Cavalier Clubs Liaison Meeting is held tomorrow let us all hope this time that the people that are eligible to vote use their vote for the benefit of our Cavaliers future Health and Welfare by including The SM Breeding Guidelines into The Clubs Code Of Ethics of the Club and that therefore due respect is given to all the Cavalier Pet Owners who took the time and trouble to sign and promote our online Petition in support of these guidelines and acknowledgment also to the thousands of people around the Globe who have purchased these beautiful loving little dogs that so quickly become entwined around our hearts and that the breeders at last realise that without us there would be no Clubs ,Cavalier Shows and probably no Cavaliers.
And of course we give our full support to Margaret Carter and all the many other Cavalier Club members that we know will be doing their utmost in support of our breed and to all those special people we offer our sincere thanks.:)

hi
Lets just all hope for a positive outcome today:xfngr::xfngr: The one thing we on here can all say is we tried to get our point across & we can only hope that is taken into account along with the CKCS club members petition. As the only person who saw the petition in full at printing i can only say there were enough strongly put valid opinions stated on it,nothing impolite only strong statements of concern for our beloved pets so i guess im saying nothing there could cause offense! Therefore it can only help.
If it goes thro it will certainly make the many hours Brian& I put into it worthwhile & the same for all the signatories, heres hoping:xfngr::xfngr:

I know you did Di :lotsaluv:It is All of ours team efforts:)
Does anybody have any news as yet as to the outcome?Im getting the jitters!

I'd like to post a :thnku: to Brian and Tupup for providing pet owners with a petition to sign. :thnku: to everyone who signed it.

A really good outcome

(y) The following is on the Cavalier Club website.......

Code of Ethics
Statement from the CKCS Liaison Meeting

It was agreed by all those present at the recent Liaison Meeting of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Breed Clubs that the Kennel Club ‘Code of Ethics’ is specific and mandatory.

Therefore, the Regional Clubs agreed their Breeding Guidelines will now include the Specialists recommendations for Syringomyelia (SM), Hearts (MVD) and Eyes and The CKCS Club will re-present this proposal to their members at the earliest opportunity.

It was felt that the membership of all the Clubs are showing an increased enthusiasm to arrange mini scans for their dogs and it is estimated that in 2009 more Cavaliers will be MRI scanned and Heart screened than in any previous year.

I have also received a letter from Lesley Jupp, the Club Chairman, written before the liaison meeting, thanking me for sending the petition and saying..........

" I shall bring the petition to the attention of the Liaison and the Committee at its next meeting. I am sure that Committee members will be pleased that so many cavalier owners are supportive of their wish to formally adopt SM breeding guidelines."

So a good outcome, & well done again to Brian & Tupup for their hard work, and thank you to all the cavalier owners that signed the petition.

Margaret C

Margaret, do you think there is a need to retain copies of the 2 petitions to
send to the next AGM meeting? Would hate to see the work ignored or forgotten a year down the line.

Hi Margaret

May I say thank you for your kind comment on behalf of tupup and myself ,I found it a a fun challenging productive task with the added incentive our reward was it was solely for the future benefit of our Cavaliers ,and I suppose i should have been surprised by the vicious and nasty people who objected to what we were trying to achieve but having already crossed swords and upset a few of That Old ,Backward Thinking ,Self Gratifying Lot that so dominate that breeders forum I suppose I knew what to expect and to be honest enjoyed the challenge.

But may I express my deepest thanks to the man behind the scenes Mr Steve McGovern who at first time of asking after I explained what we needed instantly offered to do all things computer necessary and run the Petition off his own severs from his own computer service company .
I. E. propergeeks.co.uk
I know him through business and as a friend and fellow animal lover ,two months ago he found an abandoned Border Terrier and after taking it to his vet for a check up was informed it had severe problems which would cost him straight away in excess of £2800.00 ,which of course he paid out of his own pocket not many people would do that at first time of asking for a stray dog he had just found and which of course is now a much beloved pet.

So a Big Thanks Steve mate from us all here on Cavalier Talk.

On behalf of
brian and tupup and all our kind members:)
