Squealing while pooing
Just wondered if anyone has had this prob with their cavaliers.
She started doing it on Fri nite. When in the garden i heard a squealing from Sasha like someone was trying to kill her .
So sat morn was the same so headed straight to vet who expressed her anal glands saying they were really really full. But since then she has continued to do it.:(
Have made an appointment for tomorrow morning at vet but just wondered if anyone had any idea on this? or has their cav maybe had the same prob?
I have been adding extra fibre to her JWB and walking her loads...but she is still screaming when pooing! Her poos are not really any different to usual and she has not had anything different to eat.
I am completely at a loss.:confused::confused::confused:
Her squealing sounds like someone is trying to kill her....high pitched and there isnt anything i can do to help :(
Fingers crossed the vet can shed some light and give her something as its horrible hearing her in pain!
Any ideas??? or had the same experience???
PS she is speyed...6 weeks ago.

When Clara was at my auntys house she ate some yorkie food  and that night she was squeling when pooing too it wasnt her anal glands cos she had jus got them emptied I had no idea what was wrong so I gave her some raw carrot for a few days and shes back to normal :D
Thanks for the reply Sandy.:)
I got Sashas' anal glands emptied on Sat as they were very full according to vet....but it has continued since, even after they were emptied
I thought that would have helped a bit. :(
Its awful listening to her...i usually accompany her out now and sit with her....not very pleasant but at least she knows im with her.Hubby thinks i am mad though!
I would wonder if she has something embedded internally that she cannot pass. Or if she has ripped some part of her anus due to passing something sharp (a shard of bone for example).
If your vet cannot resolve this, I'd probably get her asap to someone who specialises in gastric issues at the nearest vet school.
Maybe her anal glands are sore because they were so full? Or maybe she has an infection in them that was masked because they were full. I'd get the vet to have a look at them again just to be sure.
I think get out the mobile phone, and record and take her back to the vet.
Even though the glands have been emptied you'd need to rule out an infection.Has she been constipated?
Get the vet to have a look at her hips as well in case it's the squatting rather than the pooping that causes the pain.
It doesn't look like this is going away on it's own...
Just a thought, if she was only spayed 6 weeks ago maybe it has something to do with that. Possibly the strainig is hurting something inside her abdomen. I know when I was spayed something went wrong and I ended up having two more ops. Maybe you could suggest this possibility to your vet.
You said her stool was really unchanged-- if she is injuring herself (due to sticks/bone fragments there should be blood or impaction of stool (the stool should change, anyway).
I've had a terrible time with anal glands this year. I had a bitch show no signs until one broke open (never had that happen before) and I took back a bitch from someones home, whose anal glands had impacted, infected and started to necropsy. Two weeks later I had them checked and one was almost full and one is non functioning. Like I said, a bad year for anal glands. Sandy
