I came accross this forum while i was searching for information on SM. I read somewhere that it is very common in Cavaliers and that scared me and made me paranoid as i have a 6 month old cavalier whom i love dearly. Now i know a bit more about it i can keep a cloe eye on Joey for any symptoms which relate to SM.
Anyway i just wanted to say hi and introduce ourselves to the everyone. Take care. Great forum.

Angela and Joey - lovely to have you with us.
You're in the right place to learn all about the horrid conditions that affect our beloved breed, and it's best to be informed, then you can keep a careful eye on your baby and record any findings.
Many of the Syringomyelia symptoms are things that dogs do normally, but in Syringo. they are excessive. Please feel free to post any questions, and we'll try to help.
Hope to see some photos of your baby.

Hi Angela; you're very welcome. We have an SM forum here on the board, and you can always post any questions into that, plus I have lots of SM info on my sister site, http://sm.cavaliertalk.com -- which may be where you linked to this board in the first place.
We have several SM cavaliers here too -- all very varied in symptoms and all special dogs to each of us! My Leo (tri) for example has moderate grade SM but very few symptoms and gets along fine at this time.
Hope you enjoy the site and we're happy to have you.
