This has ended well. The breeder sold the pup to a responsible family she knows and donated the sum for the fundraiser, so all's well there. She has also been talking to someone involved with the regional breed club and has been very open & acknowledged that in the past she has never health tested any of her breeding cavaliers and does not know the health history of her breeding dogs either (eg the health background, and heart soundness of the dogs' pedigrees) . She has asked to receive information on cardiac testing and hopefully will stay in touch with the breed people.
