Just thought I'd share that, due to the advice from the board, months and months ago I printed off the health information about cavaliers and gave a file on the breed to my vet, who had never had a cavalier patient before.
Yesterday, when Cedar and I stopped in to pick up some heartworm meds, the receptionist told me that, because of those papes, she was able to give some information and advice to a woman who had inquired at the office about Cavaliers. Because of what they learned about SM and MVD through those documents, they were able to educate the woman.

And also, that information may help them to help a client if a dog is showing unusual symptoms -- so many people with SM dogs in particular can spend months, even years failing to get a diagnosis that could have relieved the pain sooner and prevented a lot of useless additonal tests and experiments with various drugs that won't be able to help. A lot of vets don't realise the extent of MVD in the breed either, or how early it can show, so helping vets to learn a bit more about cavaliers has so much potential to help other people and other cavaliers!
