Irish dog rescuer attacked

I am sorry to report that Tess, who has helped me home several sweet oldie rescue cavaliers and whom many of you will know from Irish rescue circles, was recently attacked in her home by four men trying to take back dogs she had taken in after they were found running around the streets in Kerry.

The men broke into her house, grabbed the two small dogs she had taken in by their hind legs, and threw them in their van. They then tried to take her other 12 rescues, almost all of which are elderly dogs. She tried to hold the door to the dog room shut and was knocked to the floor, injuring her shoulder.

She is doing OK and none of the dogs were taken.

Tess is 67 years old, English by birth, and has been very kind in helping to rehome all the oldies that come through irish Cavalier Rescue through some of her own special contacts, who specialise in homing older dogs.

I am disgusted to hear that this has happened to her and saddened as well. Not only do some people treat their animals like dirt but the people that try to help them as well. Much less four adult able bodied men attacking a 67 year old woman. God help those poor dogs they 'reclaimed'.

Oh my god!!!!! This is horrible and scary!!! I am so glad she is OK. Are the 2 dogs that they grabbed and threw in the van OK or did they get off with them??

:swear: :x :x

That's horrible! Just burns me up to hear something like that. May it all come back to them ten times over!

Absolutely SHOCKING! Will the authorities be able to go after them on assault charges or breaking and entering? Do they know who these fellows are? I hope someone does something to stop these creeps! Poor Tess! Give her our best wishes. I hope this affect her in the long run, we need all the good hearted souls we can find!

They took 'their' dogs back.

I don't know if they are known -- they will be in the area however so hopefully police can track them down. :( Tess is an offical rescue in the region and receives funding from the irish govt so I hope this will be taken very seriously and not shrugged off as a 'private' incident. If I get news I will post.

This is terrible, i hope she recovers from the ordeal. She does so much, especially for the older dogs.

Hope you recover soon Tess, I can only guess that these people are the Travelling kind - I have some choice names they are called here.... they are disgusting they tried to break into our house the other week. If I ever found them near my house again, there is a golf club by the front door and knives in the kitchen.

How Horrible!!!!!!!!! I hope Tess is doing OK....humans are sure good at trying to destroy each other.

Give our best to Tess. I hope she is on the mend ...trouble is it is the psychological damage that takes so long to heal.

This is terrible. What is the word coming to. Hopefully they will be caught and get what they deserve :( . When you hear about things like this it makes you :yuk: . Hope Tess recovers well and keeps up her great work . :flwr:

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this, it's terrifying when you aren't even safe in your own home.

Sending positive healing thoughts to Tess and thinking of those poor dogs that they did get away with
