My pics of Beauregard and Elvis enjoying a sugar-free (aspartame) Popsicle drew a loud warning on the other site about certain artifical sweeteners being very bad for dogs. My initial searching about aspartame in particular doesn't reveal anything too alarming about dogs specifically (but there's load of stuff about it being bad for people).
Can anyone point to anything specific/definitive about this? Knowing that dogs should probably only eat 'dog things', there's just probably a thousand things out there with artificial sugars that we wouldn't think twice about letting them have a taste of. Licking the ice cream bowl comes to mind immediately. If this is indeed serious, folks should probably know!
