Throwing up increasing

My Sasha has been throwing up quite abit more than usual - had a really bad night/day last week. Took her to the vet - when I picked her up he told me that I was probably right - she needs to be on some type of antacid before eating (exactly why did I pay him $53 then??).

Sasha had throat surgery 5 years ago (laryngeal prolapse) so it isn't unusual for her to have episodes of throwing up esp. if she eats too fast or what she is eating is too large.

I haven't changed her kibble (Natural Balance) which I have been hammering into very small bites, mixed with a little pumpkin in the A.M. and her evening meal mixed with a little canned dog food. All are watered down before she eats.

I'm wondering if she could possibly have some scar tissue formation in her throat making the opening smaller - my regular vet doesn't seem comfortable doing a throat scope - besides he isn't the vet that did the throat surgery.

Any suggestions?

Hi Sheri,

Can you go back and see the surgeon that did the surgery at all? or have some contact with him on the phone to ask your questions to? if not I would ask your vet to send you to see a specialist in the field....I would want it looked at by someone that knew this area with more confidence A.S.A.P.

Has she had any weight loss yet with all the sickness? remember to keep her fluids up while she is like this, lots of small regular drinks of water.

((((hugs)))) for you and Sasha. :flwr:

Well, my daughter needs to see both the gastroenterologist & endocrinologist this week - maybe I'll take Sasha and pass her off (instead of Amber) - at least it would be insurance covered. ;)

Yes, she has lost a little weight, so definitely want to watch that. Her appetite is still good tho'.

The vet that did her surgery is still in the area. I may just stop by to talk to him just to see if he thinks a throat scope would be worthwhile. Plus Sasha needs her teeth cleaned as well.

Isn't it always some medical thing or two with the dogs and kids?? My beloved Sophie needs a gastric bypass - she's so overweight!!!! But that'll have to be another paycheck (or two, or three, or four, or five) icon_whistling

I KNOW why I work 2 jobs.......
