training dogs like training kids...

Having just spent several days with my nephew who is just over two, it made me laugh to realise how similarly you deal with behaviour issues in both dogs and toddlers.

Ignore unwanted behaviour, use time outs, allow limited access to things, reward good behaviour... 8)

However I must say Zach is a lot better behaved than Jaspar.

Actually he is really such a good, good natured kid. And thanks in part to his fanatical devotion to Barney and Thomas the Tank Engine, he is so polite -- he says please, thank you and you're welcome usually without being prompted, and 'bless you!' if you sneeze! It was really cute. I guess I should send Jaspar off to stay with my brother and sister in law for a little remedial work. icon_whistling

I agree whole heartedly on that one. I have 3 golden retriever pups and Jeremy and a Trinity at 18 months. I find they all get treated the same. Fur and human babies alike.

I'm still out in Calif for a few days longer. No general pics, just a few of family members so won't be posting those! Though I'll get a couple of my parents' cavalier Lucy tomorrow and post those. :)
